2. What Type Of Video Is It?
• The video has constant conventions of a
concept music video throughout. You might
argue that there are elements of
narrative, but it is mostly concept based.
• Essentially, the concept is a number of
different (random) people grooving to this
catchy and fun tune.

3. Where is it set?
• This video is set in quite a few different

• The location doesn’t appear to be particularly
important to the videos concept as the
collection of scenes is somewhat random.

4. Camerawork & Shot Composition
• Camerawork is rather basic throughout.
• Lots of use of:

These work effectively to
show that characters
Movement/expression.

5. Editing
• Mostly matches the beat of the music well
which applies to Goodwin’s theory that lyrics
and visuals should match.
• Good use of colour manipulation at the
beginning and end. The colour symbolises that
the song is playing and that the mood is fun
and light.

6. Editing
• During the split screen scene at 1:26 I feel that
the screens could have been divided more
professionally. It appear to be a little
amateurish as some of the screens are not
perfectly joined.

7. Mise en Scene
• Good use of props – radio’s, etc.
• Good use of costume. Every body is either
dressed casually or in their day to day work
wear – i.e. builder. Gives the impression that
this is a casual video which works well in the
circumstances.

8. Elements of Goodwin
• The song has somewhat of an abstract genre and therefore it is hard to
design a video that conforms to its certain characteristics. However, the
use of a concept video is the closest one could come to matching the
genre.
• There is very little, or no relationship between the lyrics and the visuals.
• There is a relationship between the music and visuals which is created by
the editing in time to the music.
• The artist doesn’t appear to be present, therefore there are o artists closeups.
• There is no reference to the notion of ‘looking’, except for the two radios
at the beginning and end of the video, where we see screens within
screens.
• There are no intertextual references.

9. Opinion
• Although I like the concept, I think that the idea could have
been developed further and that more elements of narrative
could be included.
• Though the editing was completed to mostly good effect, I
think that certain points looked amateurish and could have
been fixed easily.
• I think more effort could have been applied to mise en
scene, as some points look rather random and shot on spot.
• There could have been more advanced editing techniques:
key framing, green screen etc.
