17. Outcome This is to keep you all, at Erehwon, about an activity that has spun off due to the participation of Subodh and Mayur in the Firestarter experience. They ran a session for 25 of our team-members, on Saturday, 06 Sep, 2008 and I was amazed at what came of it. There was perfect blend in the way they took it through and they had so much of customization done from our perspective!!! I did mention to them that I would not have expected this output, if I had to go by what they had communicated on day 1, to me!!! This picture that unfurled was a pleasant surprise. They have undergone a change and soon, I know, this will be a metamorphosis!! We will be utilizing their passion as resources within our organization to address the various groups. 18. Outcome Essentially this challenge emerged as follows : - Since i attended the course, i was tempted to try something out in practice what i learnt in theory and also motivate my colleagues who attended the course, i thought, being the leader i should set an example :- I tried to follow the pattern on the calendar you handed out, which functioned as reminders of things i needed to do - On the way back from the workshop- i was thinking about the "challenge" -"take on an orbit shifting challenge" Then started thinking about how to "decimate the status quo" and ways in which i am able to create large scale influence rather than local to my unit. Since i was already heading the innovation committee, wanted to do something through this team that will have far reaching consequences for the centre / organisation and something that my management will have the ability to support.. "removing escape buttons" involved a series of steps : • sharing with the team i came to the workshop with, • sharing with my line manager that i am interested in running a "million dollar chase" within the centre • sharing with my peer group in the management meet. • commenting on our CEO's blog that i ( as past of the bangalore mgmt team ) plan to take on this challenge and will keep him updated Exciting stakehoders and partners happened through the concept development and then i arranged a meeting for all managers, chaired by the head of the centre explaining why this is essential, curcial and important for the organisation and how they can assist in moving this forward, My team and I created a visually appealing power point presentation along with videos borrowed from youtube conveying the mesage about "why it is necessary to think out of the box" and how "nothing is impossible" We created a communication campaign with dashboards, that would indicate progress on a monthly basis and created infrastruture by forming teams to sustain momentum through the 3000 strong organisation, The team that is creating the momentum is the team that accompanied me through to the workshops, they are known as firestarters or innovation champions in the organisation now ! This part was "emptying the cup" involving a large group of committed people and getting them to execute the finer details and motivating their staff etc..
