Reina Sofia
is the opera
house of
Valencia,

for the
Orchestra
of Valencia.

Sciences

Site. Its divided in
three parts:
-The Columnario
Hall where
commercial
transactions were
made.
-Downstairs,
where there is a
chapel dedicated
to the Immaculate
Conception.
-The two upper
floors, that were a
prison for robbers.
THE SILK MARKET

La Puerta
de
Serranos,
is one of
the twelve
gates
guarding
the ancient
Christian
city walls of
Valencia. It
is Gothic,
from the
late
fourteenth

15. WHAT TO EAT
Of all the dishes of Valencian cuisine, the most
famous internationally is paella, a dish of dry rice.
There are many recipes, but the key in the region
consists of rice, chicken and rabbit, green beans
and broad beans.

17. LAS FALLAS
It is a party whose origins date
back to the burning of garbage
and useless things of the
woodwork , probably dating back
to the nineteenth century.
The festival, which has gained
strength throughout the twentieth
century , became the simple
burning in a sort of performance ,
but with dolls made by artisans.
18. JULY´S FAIR
To encourage capital and attract outsiders ,
the City proposed to hold an annual fair. The
21 of July, 1871 was inaugurated the first Fair
with a colorful cavalcade , pavilions ,
exhibitions of plants and selling products in
general. There are also important bullfights,
concerts and many other activities, including
the Moors and Christians fight representation.
19. VALENCIA´S DAY
It is celebrated to remember the
triumphal entry of King James I
in the city and it is celebrated
since the fourteenth century.
The more important acts are
singing the " Te Deum " in the
Cathedral, a civic procession and
a tribute to King James I.
In this celebration, someone give
to his or her beloved a typical
mocaorà, a figure of marzipan
shaped in fruits.
There are also pyrotechnics at
nigth.
20. SPORTS
Valencia´s got a football team in the first division. It
is called “Valencia fútbol club”
It also got a basketball and a handball team that
play internationally.

A Natural

where we can

28. PARSLEY ISLAND
Parsley Island
is an
uninhabited
islet in
territorial
dispute
between
Spain and
Morocco. It is
very small, but
you can do
trekking and
scuba diving
here.

This is called Zaaluk and is a very famous
musulman dish in Ceuta. It is based in a vegetables
and spices mixture spreaded over an eggplant.
People who

eat a lot of
vegetables an
fish.
31. LIGHT DAY
Hindus put lamps in the temples and on the doors
of the houses, because the light represents the
victory of truth over lies. At night there is a firework
show and people dance between little lamps in the
ground.
41. WHAT TO EAT
This is a dish of rice, peas, pepper, squids and lots
of spicy chilli.
42. It is celebrated the fifth day of August. They do a
procession with the Virgin from the South part to
the cathedral.
