• Portugal is located in Southwestern
Europe.
• Its borders are the North Atlantic
Ocean and the west of Spain.
• Portugal coordenates are 39o 30’ N
and 8o 00’ W.

• Portugal is a small country.
• Total area: 92,090 km2
• Land area: 91,470 km2
• Water area: 620 km2
4. Climate
• Portugal has a maritime temperate
climate.
• It is cool and rainy in the North and
warmer and drier in the South.
5. Natural resources
• In Portugal there are plenty of natural
resources such as fish, forests (cork),
iron ore, copper, zinc, tin, tungsten,
silver, gold, uranium, marble, clay,
gypsum, salt, arable land and
hydropower.
6. Portuguese Government
• Portugal is a parlamentary democracy.
• The President of the Portuguese Republic is
Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
• Lisbon is the capital of Portugal.
7. Our Main Symbols
• The Portuguese flag is bicolour , unevenly divided
into green on the hoist side ( two-fifths) and red on
the fly side (three-fifths).
• The national coat of arms (armilary sphere and the
Portuguese field) is centered on the dividing line.
8. Portuguese Anthem
• The Portuguese Anthem is
called “A Portuguesa” and was
composed by Henrique Lopes
de Mendonça e Alfredo Keil.
