  1. Welcome! This is just an Intro to the course. A brief bit about what Web 2.0 is….then on to the actual course structure.
  2. What do you know already about Web 2.0? What are your impressions? Everyone has seen a YouTube video, maybe you have a Facebook profile, or a blog (or at least have read a blog post in your travels through the Web). There are literally thousands of Web 2.0 tools out there, all with quirky names….many will be forgotten (some already have), information overload is a real danger! You can never keep up with all the new tools that are being produced.
  3. A word cloud….or tags that give you a snapshot of some of the tools available.
  4. Web 2.0 is all about creation and collaboration. It’s about building communities on the Web. News travels faster via the new technologies ie, Michael Jackson’s death, Obama’s election use of YouTube and Twitter, etc. Mashups….creating something new from what has gone before.
  5. Content is key…..structure and content are finally separate… content can be reused and retooled to create new applications Google Earth mashups
