• Clearwire has deployed mobile WiMAX in numerous
markets and plans to cover 120M POPs and 80
markets by year‐end.
• Comcast, Time Warner are offering mobile WiMAX
using Clearwire’s network
• Sprint is offering mobile WiMAX using Clearwire’s
network.
• Clearwire has indicated it is open to more wholesale
partners for its network.
4. U.S. LTE deployment status
• AT&T will conduct LTE trials this year, deployment is
planned for 2011.
• Verizon Wireless plans to deploy LTE in 25‐30 markets
this year covering 100 M POPs
• T‐Mobile USA expects to evolve to LTE but no
timetable is available
• MetroPCS plans to deploy LTE in Las Vegas and other
unnamed markets in the second half of 2010.
6. Outlook for 4G Infrastructure
• The LTE infrastructure market is expected to hit $5
billion in annual revenue by 2013 with up to 85 million
subscribers expected to migrate to 4G during that

• Mobile WiMAX infrastructure market will balloon from
around $700 million in 2009 to around $2.4 billion in

7. Why upgrade to 4G?
• Deliver existing services better and faster – 4G offers
better use of spectrum, higher speeds and better
support for real‐time applications
• New applications are enabled – streaming video,
gaming, etc.
• More devices – embedding wireless in all consumer
