We started on this path two years with the introduction of our Lead API, via our Tech Connect program. A pain point we heard from Agents was that it was difficult for them to receive leads via Zillow and then have to hand enter them into their CRM of choice. Today we connect to approximately 90 various CRMs and Marketing systems and have sent millions of leads through the program, helping automate lead importing for agents and brokers.
The success of this program then lead to us building the Reviews API. Again we heard from agents saying, I spend a lot of time gathering these reviews and they are tremendously helping my business on Zillow – but how can I leverage these reviews on my other forms of internet and mobile advertising, without having to replicate them? We built the Reviews API to solve this need. The API is now used by over 250 partners, tapping into the reviews database which made up of about 2 million reviews. And these reviews were seen about 170 million times in 2016 outside of the Zillow platform. Not only do agents love this, but consumers obviously do too.
This year we’ll extend this thinking into helping us automate stats delivery to various industry partners on behalf of brokers and MLS through the creation of a Reporting API. In the past we’ve delivered stats statically via FTP delivery, and the stats were delivered on two platforms, one for Trulia and one for Zillow. These will be combined to allow brokers and MLSs to more dynamically call an API for the statistical information they need to power their internal reports and systems, and do things such as creating Seller Reports. Further, from the one API they can pull down three data sets: Zillow data, Trulia data and Zillow Group data. To make this statistical data even more accessible to Brokers and MLSs, we’ve built what we call the Zillow Data Dashboard which is a web-based system for brokers to control listing syndication from their MLS to Zillow and Trulia, and we are working on building out statistical portion of this system to include this data and be more robust.
Then in 2017 we want to help solve the problem of duplicate listing entry and retrieval with our Bridge and Retsly platforms. If you are a broker in multiple MLSs or a broker who sends data to multiple destinations, we now have a solution where you can enter a new listing one time and that listing can be sent to multiple destinations including your MLSs. If you are a company using a broker’s data to power your product, we have a solution that can help you receive this data directly without have to tap various MLS and deduplicating and normalizing the data. And if you are company that is just starting or been in business for years that operates off of RETS feeds, we have a platform that can help you achieve scale faster and help minimize the process of normalizing data by serving it from one system. Not only will this API and platform allow you to access listing data, but very robust public record data will be made available via Retsly as well.
All of the technical groundwork has been laid for these things to happen, and in 2017 we’ll be looking to build out the network with more brokers, more vendors and more MLSs for a comprehensive and large footprint to make this eco-system work together more seamlessly and effectively.
