and asked how much they planned on
spending on gifts and decorations for
the holidays. 28% said they plan to
spend under $100 on gifts and
decorations. This is way lower
than Gallup's estimate, that said
Americans would spend an average
of $830 on holiday shopping. It's
also lower than the National Retail
Federation (NRF), which said
consumer planned on spending
about $800 on gifts.

Almost two-thirds (62.2%) said they won't
buy themselves a gift, even though the NRF
reported more than half of shoppers bought
themselves something last year.

were less likely to splurge
