The History of Wedding Videography

Wedding videography is a form of art that requires skills and a higher form of expertise.
As a type of production of a marriage ceremony, the resulting video is often called a
wedding film or movie. For lovers who are planning to get married soon, they should
consider looking for a cheap wedding video package.
Long before the invention of modern video and photo camera, the concept and
application of wedding videography already existed. In fact, during the time when the
only means to capture images was through a film, marrying couples preferred to use
8mm camera device. This early type of camera, according to some wedding video
experts, had a very unique limitation: the four minutes load time. This means that in
every four minutes film exposure, another film cartridge has to be loaded.
Wedding documentation is indeed a lucrative endeavor. That is why in the 1980s Sony
technology introduced another type of device known as camcorder. This camcorder
technology made it possible for the common people to avail of a number of wedding
video packages. In other words, video documentation was no longer limited for the rich
individuals.
The early development of wedding video art used to be a little primitive in a sense that
the devices used before were generally of low quality. For instance, most of the cameras
before needed bright lightings, yet the resulting photos looked fuzzy and with poor color
quality. Further, the cameras proved to be bulky, along with the limited-length cable
connected to the video recorder. Most notably, the post-production videos were not
edited, not altered nor photoshopped.
During the mid-80s to the early part of the 90s, wedding videographers had something
good. They started to organize themselves until they were able to form the international-
wide group called Wedding & Event Videographers Association or WEVA. Later in the
mid-90s, digital cameras were introduced to the market. These devices looked small,
handy, mobile; and technically, they worked a lot better.
As to post-production ingenuity, video professionals took another challenge when they
came across the so-called non-linear editing (NLE) system. This system offered a lot
more creative choices that video editors can make use of. However, this still relied on
VHS video process, an analog viewing mechanism. Not long after that, in the later part
of the 90s, many started to enjoy the recordable DVD system; thus, weddings,
anniversaries, birthdays, big social functions, and other related events were recorded
digitally. In fact, the post-productions image quality looked great due to digital editing
technology.

Today, most video professionals are using high-definition video system, as well as the
blu-ray discs technology. In the wedding industry, more development devices and
technological advancements came over, such as sliders, jib, live webcast and many other
video and camera processors. All these make every wedding video coverage enjoyable
and at the same time profitable.
