The Catalan Institute of Wood (INCAFUST) is a
nonprofit private organization that has the aim to
promote and develop wood acknowledgement as
material, and contribute to improve the
competitiveness, innovation promotion and
productivity increment of the Catalan timber
industry as well.
The institute’s main aim is to assist enterprises,
organizations and institutions by helping them on
research, technological services, technology and
knowledge transference and education.

Research and development is divided into two work programs, Wood
Technology and Timber Building Construction. INCAFUST develops its own
research projects or in alliance with public institutions or private companies.
Since 2005, INCAFUST has worked with regional, national and European funds
in different areas and pro-grams.

The main aim of the innovation support tasks is to help to improve the
competitiveness by increasing the production, adjusting of it to the required and
accomplishing of the quality standards.
Support programs:
• Introduction and efficient application of technologies to the enterprise
• Improvement of the industrial management and the business model
• Consulting and implementation on Quality and Environmental
standards, R&D management, Chain of Custody certification, CE
marking ,etc.
• Advising on standardization, legal and technical issues, funding lines,

INCAFUST organizes training schools for professionals. The institute customizes
courses and working days related to specific matters: wood technology, wood based
products, production processes and regulations. The courses are design according to
the specific needs of the wood sector.

innovative working methods. The institute gives efficient response to the specific
needs required by the companies and their products.

Inspecction and diagnosis

The inspection and diagnosis service analyzes the
condition of the timber structures. Advanced inspection
techniques like thermography, resistography or termite
detection radar are used to check defects,
imperfections, degradation and structural pathologies.
