I. ENTRY
• The exhibition is open to all amateur and professional photographer.
• The exhibition has received the Patronage of FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art), Recognition from
PSA (the Photographic Society of America), ISF (Image Sans Frontière).
• The entrant must be the owner of all rights of the submitted work.
II. SECTIONS
There are 4 sections:
1. Open Color PSA Projected Image Division
2. Open Monochrome PSA Projected Image Division
3. Nature PSA Nature Division
4. Travel PSA Travel Division
• Each entrant may submit a maximum of four entries in each section.
•Each photo can be presented only in one section.
• It is the responsibility of the entrant to obtain a model release and the sponsoring organization shall bear no
responsibility if in the future there is a claim from the photo model or a third party with respect to submission of an
entry.
• The entrant certifies that he/she is the sole owner of all the rights and elements on the image which he/she presents.
• All Images entered MUST comply with the PSA, FIAP Definitions below. Images failing to do so will not be judged.
• By entering THE FOURTH GIA DINH PHOTO CLUB INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST 2014 , the entrant certifies the
work as their own and permits the organisers to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for
publication in a catalogue, on internet website and/or in other media related to the THE FOURTH GIA DINH PHOTO CLUB

Open Colour (Salon Section A)
Any image that satisfies the general rules may be submitted in the Open section. Images that depict nature or travel
themes, or are in monochrome, and are submitted in this section will be judged solely on their pictorial merit.
2. Monochrome PSA (Salon Section B)
• A monochrome image is defined as having varying shades of no more than one colour (various shades of that colour
from very light to very dark) but it may be any single colour.
• Multi-toned images (various shades of two or more colours) and greyscale images with an added accent colour are
not acceptable in Monochrome Class sections and must be entered in Colour Class sections.
Monochrome FIAP (Salon Section B)
• A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work
with the various shades of grey.
• A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black
and white category.
• A black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work
(polychrome) to stand in the colour category.
Nature (Salon Section C)
Images entered in the Nature Section MUST comply with the following PSA, FIAP and RPS definitions. Images failing to
do so will not be judged.
Nature PSA (Salon Section C)
• Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of
natural history, except anthropology and archaeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to
identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation.
• The story-telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high
technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except on the rare occasion where those human elements
enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals is permissible.
Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens or obviously set arrangements, are
ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement.
• No techniques that add to, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted.
Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content
are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Colour images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. Infrared
images are not allowed. Successful entrants may be contacted by email and requested to supply a high resolution or
raw image file.
• Accurate, brief, descriptive titles identifying the subject are required for nature photographs.
Nature FIAP (Salon Section C)
• Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural
habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs.
• Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well
as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible.
• Minimal evidence of humans is acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks,
adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal
waves, reclaiming it.
• The original image must have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic
medium is used.
• Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor retouching of
blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene.
• After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level
of artistic skill in all nature photographs.
Travel PSA (Salon Section D)
A Photo Travel image must express the feeling of a time and place, and portray a land, its
distinctive features or culture in its natural state. There are no geographical limitations. Close
up pictures of people or objects must include distinguishable environment. Techniques that
add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are
not permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Conversion to full monochrome is
acceptable. Derivations, including infrared, are unacceptable.
3. Additional rules
• Compliance: The THE FOURTH GIA DINH PHOTO CLUB INTERNATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST 2014 committee may reject
any entry/image at their discretion. An entry may be rejected if it does not conform to published Salon rules and
definitions or is deemed unsuitable.
• In order to ensure that images comply with the rules and definitions, the organisers will carry out checks on a random
selection of images to make sure that:
1. The images are the original work of the entrant
2. The images comply with the rules and definitions as set out above.
• This may involve the entrant being asked to provide the original image(s).
• In the event of any submitted image being found to contravene the above rules and
definitions, or not to be wholly the work of the entrant, that entrant’s complete entry will be disqualified and the entry
fee forfeited. An entrant failing to provide a requested image file may, at the organisers’ discretion, be considered to be
in convention of the above rules and will also be disqualified and the entry fee forfeited
AGREEMENT SUBMISSION OF AN ENTRY SIGNIFIES ACCEPTANCE OF ALL ABOVE CONDITIONS.
III. ENTRY DIMENSION
• The images will be sent in JPEG format using sRGB color space.
• The maximum dimensions including any borders are 1400 pixels (horizontal width) and 1050 pixels (vertical height).
Images smaller than 1400 x 1050 pixels are acceptable but will appear smaller when projected. Images larger than the
specifications will be resized.
• The image file can have any name and can be of any size, but images larger than 5MB will be reduced in size (but not
in quality) once uploaded.
• Please make sure you enter suitable titles for your images.
• The projection background is black.
• The resolution of imges should have to be 300dpi.
IV ENTRY SUBMISSION
• The entry form and the images must be submitted electronically via website http://giadinhphotocontest.com/
• Just follow the instructions.
• Every entrant will receive a free copy of the catalogue.
• The organisers may refuse to accept an entry/image at their discretion and assume no liability for any misuse by
anyone of copyright of published images.
• Entries will not be judged without an entry form together with full payment of entry fee.
• Entries must be submitted before the closing date (Oct 25, 2014).
• A representative selection of Accepted images will be projected at public showings.
