• Optimist Training week Baltimore Feb mid term - 20 NYC
sailors travelled!
• Tenerife Opi Exchange
• Large groups of optimists and Toppers travelling to
events all summer.
• Volvo stopover in Galway includes Opi Team Racing
with large group from NYC
• Finn Lynch and Ian Kneafsey represent IRL in Eurosaf
• Large group of NYC kids travelled to the Topper worlds
in Holland this summer

• Daniel Raymond represented IRL in the Opi Europeans
• Heather Spain represented IRL in the French Opi
Nationals
• Sarah Cooney travelled to India to the International
Indian Regatta as part of her Transition Year
Programme.
• Patrick Coyle, Clare Gorman, Loghlen Rickard, Peter
Fagan and Heather Spain travelled to Palma this week
to compete in a regatta with 376 entries from 17
countries!

14. Personal Achievements
• Loghlen Rickard won the Junior Optimist Leinster
Regionals and was crowned National Junior Champion
2012 and overall Junior Gold Winner at the Opi Nationals
• Peter Fagan won the Junior Optimist Ulsters/Munsters
• ISAFs - Finn Lynch qualifies in the Laser Radial and
Tadgh and Sean Donnelly in the 29er.
• NYC Sailing Development Fund supports these sailors
for their pre ISAF training.

16. NYC shines at Opi Events
• Nicola Ferguson (left) wins
the Crosbie Cup
• Overall Junior Team trophy won by NYC’s Loghlen
Rickard (1st Junior Gold), Peter Fagan (4th Junior Gold)
and Claire Gorman (1st Junior Silver)

20. Personal Achievements
• Tadgh & Sean Donnelly finish in top 10! Irelands first
entry in the 29er. Will be back next year!
• Finn wins Ireland's FIRST EVER Silver Medal in the
ISAFs. Also U17 in Europa Cup in Garda, Leinsters,
Connaughts.

24. Our Coaches – What are they up to?
• Philip Doran U19 winner in the Europa Cup in Hungary
• Simon Doran/Aidan Mc Laverty/ Barry Mc Cartin win the
Student Yachting Worlds in France for UCD
• Simon Doran, Aoife Cooney, Barry Mc Cartin, Eimear Mc
Ivor, Aidan Mc Laverty winners of Inter-varsity team
racing for UCD and represented IRL coming 3rd in
BUSA

26. Annalise’s Olympic Fever
• Annalise wins the Bronze medal in the Sail For Gold
Regatta in Weymouth
• Annalise does us proud with 4 fantastic race wins in
Weymouth. Lots of coverage in Newspapers/Nationwide.

• Annalise eventually finishes 4th Laser Radial London
