1. Who Is Eligible For Canada Skilled Immigration?
On January 1, 2015, the Canadian government launched Express Entry system under Economic
category with Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Particularly in Express Entry system, Federal Skilled Workers across 347 eligible job opportunities
who successfully meetminimum entry criteria, submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the Express
Entry Pool. The profiles in the pool are then given rank under a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking
System). The profile holding top rankis then considered for an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for PR. On
receiving an invitation, the candidate has to submit a full application within 90 days.
A person is considered as a Federal Skilled Worker if his education, age, work experience and
proficiency in Canada official language are up to the mark and he is selected under Express Entry
system to apply for PR.
2. Applicant must meet the following condition to qualify for the entry to the Express Entry pool as a
Federal skilled worker.
I. Have 1 year full-time/part-time paid work experience within past10 years in one of the occupations
listed under National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.
II. Work experience will be classified within Skill Type 0 (Managerial), Skill Type A (Professional)
and Skill Type B (Technical and skilled trades) within NOC system.
III. Have scored good points under skilled worker point grid comprising 6 selection factors. Passing
mark is 67 points.
IV. Must have scored 7 bands in the IELTS language test.
V. Must have some financial background.
VI. Must have gone through security background and medical examination.
Qualified applicants are then evaluated against 6 factors to know their Canada Skilled immigration
eligibility. Applicants must obtain 67 points out of 100 to qualify. The selection factors with their
maximum points are:
1. Age- Maximum of 12 points
2. Language- In between 16 to 28 points
3. Employment experience- In between 9 to 15 points
4. Education- Maximum 25 points
5. Adaptability- Maximum of 10 points
6. Arranged employment-In between 0 or 10 points
The selection of the candidates under the new program is done onthe basis of the highestprobability of
economic settlementsuccess andcontribution to the Canadian economy. The new program maintains
the previous criteria with modification to the pointstructure andrelative importance for every selection
factor.
Selection Factors:
An applicant who has a good language proficiency and work experience must obtain minimum 67
points on the skilled worker grid to ensure selection under FSW program.
3. 1. Age
The candidate in between the age of 18 to 35 years is allocatedup to 12 points. Post35 years,1 pointis
reduced every year from the candidate profile.
2. Language
The officiallanguage of Canada is English and French. Only applicant capable of representing high-
level language proficiency will be considered for the selection.
3. Employment Experience
The new program needs a minimum of 1-year work experience to qualify.
4. Education
Maximum point 25 is awarded to the applicant with a doctorate degree.
5. Adaptability
Maximum points willbe awarded to the applicants who have atleast1 year of full-time Canadian work
experience in a managerial, professional, technical or skilled trade occupation.
6. Arranged Employment
Points are allocated if the candidate has a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
