The Smart e-Hospital shows a new educational concept based on virtual experiential learning, which combines a virtual world, a gamified environment, social interaction, experience exchange and potentially pre-existing e-learning modules.
3. Training is set inside a virtual hospital.
Each floor of the hospital corresponds
to one day of training.
Free surfing on each floor.
In order to access the upper floor, it
is compulsory to complete the tasks
of the previous one.
Each floor is composed of different
rooms: library and rooms for testing.
Complete tracking of users
activities/experiences.
general structure Possibility to integrate pre-existing
training materials (for example, showing
e-learnings through a seminar room).
4.
5. Library:
all the training material is collected
Inside the room (text, video,…)
always available for students
Books and videos are divided by
categories/topics.
training structure
If a “lecture”is preparatory for
another one, a message will block
the consultation of the next training
material.
Training material for each lesson
6. Each mini game represents a test.
In order to access mini game “x”
the user has to look at the supporting
material “y” available in the library.
There are different kinds of mini games
depending on the structure and on the
themes available in the didactic material.

7. Badge after each task is completed.
Badge divided by category (eg. medical
competencies, social skills).
Badge will be used to define both ranking
and rewards allocation (eg. free download
of a specialised magazine for a limited
period of time).
gamification structure
8. “Shoutbox” to share one’s own comments
or experiences with other users.
Possibility to vote comments (using “like”,
the typical function of social networks)
depending on their usefulness for users’
training.
Possibility to include the most voted
comments in the virtual space (these
create a kind of “knowledge base” that
can be classified as “best or worst
practices”).
