4. Initial cost?
• $13 per student (paid by school district)
• ~$12 per student for regional competition
• ~$150 per student for state comps (SD)
• ~$175 per student for nationals (Missouri)
• Travel & hotel are separate beyond regionals
• Competition attire is required
• Fundraising will be needed beyond regionals
5. Officers
• President,Vice President, Secretary
• Treasurer, Reporter, Parliamentarian
• 10th & 11th grade President
• Digital Imaging & Digital Storytelling Reps
• Members at Large
6. Duties
President- Grade 11 or 12
• Presides over chapter meetings
• Works with other officers to prepare agendas
• Represents SkillsUSA in school and community
Vice President- Grade 11 or 12
• Presides at meetings and other functions in the
absence of the chapter president
• Supervises all committees
• Serves as program chairperson, introduces
programs at chapter meetings
7. Duties
Secretary- Grade 11 or 12
• Maintains all chapter records
• Records minutes of all meetings
• Handles all chapter correspondence
Treasurer- Open
• Keeps records of chapter funds
• Collects annual dues from members
• Prepares financial statements, including annual
financial statement
8. Duties
Reporter- Open
• Writes news stories on chapter activities
• Contacts school newspaper and the local news
media about SkillsUSA events
• Gets acquainted with local news editors
Parliamentarian- Open
• Oversees proper business procedure of all
chapter meetings
• Serves as consultant and expert on
parliamentary procedure
9. Duties
Grade 10 & 11 Presidents
• Assists and learns role from President
Digital Imaging & Storytelling Reps- Open
• Assists students and advisor in preparing for
competitions related to digital imaging or digital
storytelling
Members at Large
• Does not want to be an officer but wants to be
involved in meetings, activities, & competitions
10. This month...
• Fri 9/17- Meet w/potential officers @lunch
• Mon 9/22- 250 word essays due by 8am
• Tues 9/21- DATA Teachers review essays
• Wed 9/22- Officers announce at B2S Night
• Wed 9/29- First officer’s meeting!
• Regular meetings planned Wednesdays @3pm
11. How to apply?
• Sign up for positions
• Attend meeting THIS FRIDAY @12:30
• Submit essay convincing us why you want
the position
• Essays due by 8am Monday!
