Energy Award® . This award supports communities that
want to contribute to a sustainable energy policy and
urban development through the rational use of energy
and an increased use of renewable energies.
Veglia Devero Nature Park has obtained EMAS
registration. The EU Eco-Management and Audit
Scheme is a management tool for companies and other
organisations to evaluate, report and improve their
environmental performance.
12. 20 Municipalities of Verbano Cusio Ossola and High
Novarese adhere to the Covenant of Mayors, the
mainstream European movement involving local and
regional authorities, voluntarily committing to increasing
energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources
on their territories. By their commitment, Covenant
signatories aim to meet and exceed the European Union
20% CO2 reduction objective by 2020.
Valgrande National Park and Veglia Devero Nature
Park (with Strona Valley) are working to obtain the
European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, developed by
Europarc - Federation of protected areas, with about 450
members in 36 European countries. 88 Parks in Europe
have already adopted the Charter.
