RE: Ikmal Ikram Ariffin letter of recommendation
To whom it may concern,
I am pleased to give my recommendation for Ikmal Ikram Ariffin as a dedicated and skilled graduate architect.
I taught Ikram on two occasions, within the context of RMIT's Master's of architecture program, including acting as the
supervisor for Ikram's graduating project. Throughout this time Ikram has repeatedly demonstrated commitment and
enthusiasm for each task that he engaged. Ikram has consistently shown initiative and originality in developing his
design projects, and in the successful completion of the masters course he has proven a high level of competency in
time management and self-organisation.
I wish Ikram well in his future career and unconditionally recommend him to any architectural practice committed to
design excellence.
Your Sincerely,
Ben Milbourne

To whom it may concern.
Along with Professor Mark Burry and Malte Wagenfeld I taught a masters level trans-
disciplinary studio called Atmosphere and Attrition. The studio was run in the 2nd
semester of 2008 and brought together students from landscape architecture, architecture
and industrial design backgrounds.
Ikram Ariffin was one of the students in this studio and the work he developed in the
course was of a very high standard. Ikram received a High Distinction grade, which is the
highest mark given.
The course required the students to work almost entirely in groups with people from other
disciplines, so to have performed well in the class the students had to be able to work
creatively together in teams.
The final project that Ikram worked on was particularly good. The team developed the
design of the Library for Sight Impaired people. A remarkable 1:1 model was constructed
poetically combined an ingenious acoustic flooring system with a beautiful external brail
inspired façade.
It was a pleasure to teach Ikram this semester and on behalf of the other tutors involved in
this studio I recommend him as a diligent and talented student.
Many thanks
