2. BIOGRAPHY
 Maria del Monte Tejado Algaba
(Seville, on April 26, 1963),
known artistically as Maria del
Monte, is a Spanish singer of
Sevillian and of couplet, as well
as radio and television host.

5. ORIGINS
Daughter of Bibiana Algaba and
Antonio Vargas, she is the youngest
of five children.
After winning the television contest
Gente Joven in 1982, she released
her first album..

6. ORIGINS
Her second album Cántame, a
sevillanas album, which quickly
became a hit and got three platinum
albums. Of which the most popular
song is Cántame. This song is about
the pilgrimage to the hermit of the
virgin of El Rocío, in Huelva.

With time she has managed to
win over the public and she is
called “The Queen of
Sevillanas“.

She was a pilgrim when a man grabbed
her hand, mounted his horse and went
for a walk through a meadow. He
asked her to sing and she sang. They
were both looking at the sky when he
kissed her and said I love you. When
it was night he picked up his guitar
and she sang sevillanas.
