2. India's CSR is the only 'management instrument' in the world which is
protected by Law. At the same time India is also blessed with youth
power. Sorry to say, the fact is, 'youth power' becomes a challenge for
India today. With all sorts of criticalities, the answer lies with the
creation of âjobs for the youthâ. Now the question is from where and
in which head the job would be created... actually vacancy is already
there in the respective CSR departments. Since CSR is protected by
law thus, without any option thousands of company has to follow it.
Now, to get into CSR job, you need to have multi-faculty
specializations with proper orientation in development and
management sciences, clubbed with the special focus on CSR based
analytical skills. Hence, you require a specialised Course. That's the reason while I developed the course in last
year; the University of Mysore placed it under Specialized MBA programme. Simply it means MBA in CSR is
not a generalMBA.
From this year onwards thousands of CSR Jobs are available but until you are armed with an UGC approved
degree there is no chance to avail these facilities. We believe CSR is the gift to youth towards nation
development. Rarely this type of chance comes in a life time for a generation!! Towards extending this facility,
we in ICSM are hare for you. So far credibility is concerned; while launching the course in last year, ICSM
already made history in South Asia. ICSM is the premier most Institution in India in context with Higher
learning in CSR programme. Backed with best of the Think-Tanks; Mentors and Faculties, ICSM is the most
exclusiveperformancebasedInstitutionin relationtoCSR and CorporateEthics.
We will make you to have multiple Jobs as tomorrow's CSR LeaderâŚI advise you to join ICSM and make
yourself proudfornextphasesof yourlife.

3. The Institute of Corporate Sustainability Management (ICSM) is an institute that aims to bridge this gap
between demand and supply for skilled man-power in the field of Corporate Social Sustainability. A steadily
growing demand for specifically skilled people in this Sector, ICSM aspires to create a platform for the better
understanding and maximum optimization of resources available in this field. Establishing a national-level
Institute in the National Capital Region gives Students of ICSM an edge over other students across the country
as ICSM is in the midst of where all the action takes place. From policy making to implementation and from
having major corporate and social sector Headquarters here it leaves students spoilt for choice and an array of
opportunities,which theycouldcapitalizeon.
The importance of Corporate Social Responsibility in present times is a fact that needs no reiteration. It is the
tool by which Sustainable Development would be achieved. While CSR has always been an integral part of the
global growth model, it's legalization in India through the Company Act has laid the foundation for a
fundamental structure. This has in turn opened various avenues for one to explore and evolve an arena where
collaborativeworkacrosssectorscouldhelp builda strongnation.
The students at ICSM, would have unique mix of professional individuals who have diverse experience in both
Industry and Academics as their mentors. Through its activities, ICSM has been able to establish an institutional
framework that would take up formal higher learning in along with Training, MDPs, Research and Consultancy
on CSR ServicesforIndustry,CivilSocietyand Government.
ICSM being in Gurgaon has opened the access to 250 (or 50%) of the Fortune 500 companies. Gurgaon has
become India's industrial and financial nucleus. Popularly known as Millennium City, Gurgaon's proximity to
Delhi means easy access to political decision makers. In nutshell Gurgaon is the most evolving and emerging
place in India where synergy between education and industry is already recognized and encouraged for growth
and developmentof thesocietywitha bestplaceof exposuretotheMBA in CSR students.

6. As the Company Act 2013 is concerned, approximately 11,000 listed companies in India have to set-up their
full-fledged 'CSR Department' with 2-Existing and 1-Independent Director. To start with, it requires at least
2000+ CSR MBA Professionals. Thus the demand for qualified professionals in coming years is not the
question. The issue is â who will meet this demand. On the supply side, for 2014 and 2015 Nationally ICSM
shall be the only Institution to address 80 students!! Being the first movers, the students will obviously be in
tremendously advantageous position to have assured jobs with quick growth in their career. Interestingly,
the gap between the demand and the supply is so wide â at this level it's an open field for the MBA in CSR
students.
Recognizing the role of CSR, the Government of India has institutionalized a mandatory spend (2% of
Profits) on CSR for Indian Companies in the new Companies' Act 2013. This is applicable to companies with
a net worth of Rs.500 crore or turnover of Rs.1,000 crore or net profit more than Rs 5 ore in any financial year.

The moot question is how to prepare lakhs of CSR Specialists for coming years? It's a boom with a different
challengewheresystemsarealreadyin place;thisismorethan a breakthroughfortheStudent.
Why to join CSR-Specialised MBAs⌠let's see, India produces over 1, 75,000 per annum of MBAs from
affiliated regular courses catering approximately 1750 B-Schools. There are 109 non-affiliated Institutions
who also attract Students. Apart from this, 1, 25,000 students do MBA from correspondence courses.
Interestinglyfortomorrow,non-of themareeligiblefortheSpecialisedCSR department!!
Another important dimension is, MSWs, PG in Rural Management, MA in Development Studies students'
core strengths are related to non-industrial aspects, thus, as a result, these students are also non- preferable
candidate for the Corporate because CSR core work is inter-dependent with industry vis-Ă -vis corporate
knowledge.
Recognizing the role of CSR, the Government of India institutionalized a mandatory spend (2% of
profits)on CSR forIndian Companies of a certain sizein thenewCompaniesâ Act2013.
On 27 February 2014, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India announced the corporate
Social Responsibility(Policy))Rules2014undertheSection135of thenewCompanies Act2013.
One major addition in the section 135 is provision of up to 5% of the CSR budget for training and
capacitybuilding of employeesand implementingpartnersforCSR.
CSR activities shall include: eradication of hunger and poverty, promotion of education, promoting
gender equality and women empowerment, reducing child mortality and improving maternal health,
combating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS),
malaria and other diseases, ensuring environmental sustainability, employment enhance vocational

To refer the recent past, often we give the reference of 1991 LPG (Liberalization Privatization and
Globalization) story. From now onwards, direction would be 2013; referring the mandate of CSR law as new
business feature, larger than any other Management Area of Specialization. CSR in Companies Act is the
silent revolution which will take forward the India's Growth trajectory at a different level. The academic value

17. The treasure of CSR needs to be created with Indian perspectives and global thoughts. Itâs known to all that a
simple idea can change an entire understanding of the subject. But, this can only be possible through
knowledge, because it has special power to transcend with the paradigm of creation. Harmonizing the local
aspirations into business inclusivism, CSR requires sketches of imaginations and this wants formal inspirations;
thusICSMoffersa dedicatedresearch wing.
From this academic year, ICSM would hand hold and mentoring young research fellows for theoretical and
professional attainments. We in ICSM will take three regular PhD Fellows in CSR under the University of

For CSR, India alone requires over more than 2,00,000 Professionally Certified human resources in the
comingyears.Thisisliterallyuniquein comparison tootheropportunitiesof thebusinessin India.
In fact, from now onwards organizations required trained human resources in CSR. With this development,
to tackle the situation, India doesnât have any dedicated Institution to cater the huge demand of CSR and its
Human Resources. For managing CSR, an individual has to be academically exposed and professionally
trained. Also to be intellectually groomed in perspective of CSR. This is a first-track high-growth emerging
sectoralacademicviz.professionalareaof themanagementin India.
ICSM offers first time in Asia âPost Graduate Certificate Course in CSRâ. This course has already been opted
by the Ten Indian University and Instituteâs students including London School of Economics. To address the
emerging need of CSR professional, ICSM provides you a comprehensive certificate course of three months
