1) A group of students started a hand washing initiative called "Clean Chit" at their school and local slum community to address high rates of diarrhea and respiratory infections. 2) They conducted a needs analysis, trained themselves on proper hand washing techniques, and visited classrooms daily to teach and encourage hand washing through songs. 3) The group also targeted the local slum community with live demonstrations and educated parents to help turn hand washing into an ingrained habit to improve health.

4. The Locality (slum) houses more than 350 families.
There are almost 138 children in the age group of 4-12 years.
+40% of children suffer from diarrhoea & respiratory infections
especially during rainy seasons.
58% children absent from school daily due to some reason or other.
At least 35% are absent because of diarrhoea & respiratory infections.
'Hand washing’ is a neglected area & is not given much importance.

Preparing a meticulous & well designed plan that could be initiated at the school &
community level under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Patel our mentor. This included zeroing
on the target group, adopting methodology, planning outcome & budgeting (Which was
hardly any)
