3. A fight would erupt from anywhere, and it would continue to grow until it becomes a huge fight…
4. Jack couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t live like that, waking up and sleeping with a fight. He felt that his relationship with his father was getting worse everyday, and declining due to their disconnection. Jack decided to go to a therapist.
5. Dennis, Jack’s therapist, felt like he wanted to use a new way to help Jack. Dennis made jack and his father meet, and he took them to his friend, John, a scientist and who currently works in a Virtual Reality Lab.
6. Dennis informed John about the situation between Jack and his father. He hoped that John would have a better solution than just normal therapy for the declining relationship.
7. He made both subjects enter a room. It was a room with four walls. It was huge. It had a very weird and different enviroment. There were two helmets with many gadgets on them. They were palced on a desk, and the desk was at the end of the room. Jack and his father felt very confused…
8. The point of this experiment was to make Jack and his father experience son-father experiences, from mountain climbing, to playing video games, to hiking, to snowboarding, to flying planes and to playing football together.
9. The experiment started. Jack and his father placed the helmets on their heads. In a few minutes, the experiment started…As soon as it started, Jack looked at his dad, and he saw his dad wearing snowboarding clothes. As he looked around him, he realized that he is standing on snow, and all he can see is snow. They started snow boarding together. The only they could hear was the laughter, and the only thing they can feel was the fun they were having together.
10. Their fun and enjoyable time was interrupted by a change in scenery and environment. Suddenly, they looked around them and they found themselves under a huge mountain. They looked at each other, and they realized that their outfits have been changed, and even their body figure too. They then began mountain climbing, and the fun started again!
11. The environments kept changing and changing. And the fun kept increasing and increasing. Jack couldn't of ever imagined that he would have so much fun with his dad, who used to fight with him every single day. They kept having fun for hours, until the most important part of the experiment came…
12. This part was very important, as Dennis believed that if Jack and his father faced danger together, their relationship would be a lot stronger, and they would be more connected. In psychology, people who face danger together, and survive and save each other’s lives are people who would most likely be very interconnected and very close. That is because anytime they would come to fight, they would remember the danger they face together, and their grief would be replaced with memories.
13. As they were having fun, and they were hiking, suddenly their environment changed again. They were expecting themselves to be in a skiing environment, or a swimming pool or something. They suddenly found themselves on top of a volcano. It was extremely hot. They were running away until Jack fell and tripped. As he was falling in the volcano, his father held his hand. Jack was hanging in the air, only supported by his father’s hand. His dad pulled him up and they ran away safely.
14. They came out of the therapy session very confused. They came out happy, and they felt so much closer. A few months later, Jack and his dad went to visit Dennis at his office. They told him that they were very close now, and that due to him and virtual reality, their relationship inclined.
