Lab 1: Importing a Microsoft Word file as a module
Objectives
At the end of this lab you will be able to:
► Describe how Microsoft® Word paragraph styles affect a module that is created by an import
► Prepare for an import by identifying and fixing paragraph style problems in Microsoft Word
► Import a Microsoft Word file to create a module and its supporting artifacts.
Given
► Automated Meter Reader (Water) project (AMR)
Description
► In this lab, you are Bob the analyst. Your stakeholders provided you with a vision document that you want
to import into your project. You decide to import the document as a module because the document contains
a few vision statements that you want to manage individually, and eventually use to show traceability and
acceptance throughout the lifecycle.
Exercise tasks
In this exercise, you complete these tasks:
 Task 1: Explore the content and styles of a rich-text document
 Task 2: Import and extract requirements from a document

Figure 1: In the AMR Vision Requirements V2.doc file, paragraph style names
are displayed in the style area of the document
