2. Assisted Deployment Services Offering
Purpose - For clients who will be implementing or upgrading Rational software with their
own resources. Provide client with access to IBM subject matter expertise during
critical planning and implementation phases.
Offering includes upfront IBM Solution Architect expertise during planning phase for review,
collaboration, gap analysis & advisement for success. (Rational Services)
Offering includes Deployment Leader expertise during the client’s execution phase to provide
remote dedicated technical focus and to fast track any questions or problems that may arise
while iterating the project plan as needed. (AVP Program or Rational Services Engagement
Leader)
Goal – To cost effectively reduce the client’s time (ROI) through successful deployment
and adoption.
Key Factors
Client will leverage own resources for hands-on planning, testing and implementation
Client will produce and own documentation including: goal statement, measures of success,
project plan, test plans, use cases, topology
IBM will contribute and advise while providing best practices and templates but will not own the
planning or execution.
IBM Value Add
Provides the right level of up-front expertise to proactively mitigate risk and delay
Expedites execution phase with dedicated IBM resource facilitating IBM involvement as
needed.

springboard their CLM migration
Need
Migrated user base from Star (Source Control) & Claim (Requirements) to RTC
& RRC in a six month time frame so client could avoid additional cost.
Solution
Collaborative Lifecycle Management Deployment
Implementation
Rational consultants and Support reviewed, advised and collaborated with the
client's resources and implementation team. The combined teams (IBM &the
client) reviewed the Rational Services best practices and approach for
deployment, providing guidance to the client team on key areas of focus for
success. This included a set of recommendations and technical architecture
guidance.
Value
As a result of the Assisted Deployment Services Offering, the client has begun
production use of the CLM solution resulting in 600 license activations. There
has not been a single critical situation opened, PMR volume is well below
average, and the client has purchased $70K in Rational Professional Services.
The Client’s CIO has credited Rational Services and support work and the
software solution for a $5 million reduction in operational expenses.

Insurance Client uses Assisted Deployment Services Offering to extend
their RTC Implementation
Need
Improve RTC product stability and performance while implementing enterprise
architecture for scalability and growth.
Solution
Add 1300 additional users to RTC while including additional use cases and
managing performance when loading large plans. Implement RTC architecture
for cross-portfolio use.
Implementation
Rational Services and Support worked together over a six-month period to
review, advise and collaborate with the client's resources and implementation
team. The IBM team reviewed best practices and provided recommended
deployment guidance for the client team. The recommendations, test
scenarios, architecture and adoption strategy helped the client team focus on
the key areas to ensure success.
Value
As a result of the work, the client is stable and on boarding new users in
production, and plan load performance has improved 25 to 50%. The client
purchased a $2M+ deal with IBM where this work on RTC was directly called
out as a determining factor. Two additional service engagements have been
signed. No critical situations opened, and PMR volume is well below average.
