name everything around us counting those
that are invisible (exp. Air, Gas etc).

5. A Common Noun names a common person,
place, thing or animal or idea. We do not
capitalize the first letter of a common
noun except if it is the first word in a sentence.
Example
I asked a friend about the american Indian tribe.
Here, the words ( friend, american Indian tribe)
are common nouns because you are talking to
one of your friends. And only talking about one
american Indian tribe
6. A Proper noun is a specific name of a person,
place, things, animals etc. We spell a proper noun
with a capital letter. Proper nouns also refer to
times or to dates in the calendar.
Example
I asked John what he knew about the Maya.
In this sentence the words (John, Maya) are
proper nouns
We can use plurals for proper nouns in special
cases.
We can as well use the, an, or a for a proper noun
in special conditions
7. A concrete noun is something we see, touch,
hear, taste or smell. It is the opposite of an
abstract noun. There are countable concrete
nouns and uncountable concrete nouns.
Countable: Principal (Person), Keyboard
(Thing), Mouse (Animal), School (Place).
Uncountable: Milk (Liquid), Nitrogen (Gas),
Copper (Substance).
8. An abstract noun is a quality or something
that we can only think of quite than as
something that we can see or touch, e.g.
Love, Honor, friendship, intelligence, Hatred.
We can form abstract nouns from common
nouns (child – childhood); from verbs (know –
knowledge); and from adjectives (happy –
happiness).
9. Countable Nouns are nouns that can be counted
and Uncountable Nouns are nouns that can’t be
counted.

10. A collective noun is a name used for a
number of people, animals or things that we
group.
Example
A bunch of bananas
A litter of puppies
A Squad of police
11. A Compound Noun is a Noun that is a
combination of two Nouns joined together.
Examples
Wind+shield=Windshield
Sun+tan=Suntan
Tooth+paste=Toothpaste
