4 APRIL- 10 APRIL’11

1. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them. When
you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are
saying, while imitating the accent and rhythm of their speech.

2. Until you learn the correct modulation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down. If you speak
too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time
understanding you. Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is
more important that everything you say be understood.

3. Use the dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say. Use
dictionary for the purpose of getting the new words & their meanings.

4. Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone who
speaks the language well to pronounce them for you. Record these words listen to them and practice
saying them. Listen and read at the same time.

5. Pronounce the ending of each word. Pay special attention to 'S' and 'ED' endings. This will help you
strengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.

6. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day in front of a mirror. This activity will definitely
help you in improving your modulation as well as boost up your confidence well.

7. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes. Many people hate to hear the sound
of their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercise
because doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.

8. Be patient. You can change the way you speak but it won't happen overnight. You can change the
way you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it.

1. Dress Sharp
When you don’t look good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people. Use
this to your advantage by taking care of your personal appearance. In most cases, significant
improvements can be made by bathing and shaving frequently, wearing clean clothes, and being aware
of the latest styles.
2. Good Posture
People with slumped shoulders and lethargic movements display a lack of self confidence. They aren’t
enthusiastic about what they’re doing and they don’t consider themselves important. By practicing
good posture, you’ll automatically feel more confident. Stand up straight, keep your head up, and
                               lly
make eye contact.
3. Personal Commercial
One of the best ways to build confidence is listening to a motivational speech. Unfortunately,
opportunities to listen to a great speaker are few and far between. You can fill this need by creating a
personal commercial. Write a 30-60 second speech that highlights your strengths and goals. Then
                                60
recite it in front of the mirror aloud (or inside your head if you prefer) whenever you need a confidence
boost.
4. Compliment other people
When we think negatively about ourselves, we often project that feeling on to others in the form of
insults and gossip. To break this cycle of negativity, get in the habit of praising other people. Refuse to
engage in backstabbing, gossips and make an effort to compliment those around you. In the process,
you’ll become well liked and build self confidence. By looking for the best in others, you indirectly bring
out the best in yourself.
5. Sit in the front row
In schools, offices, and public assemblies around the world, people constantly strive to sit at the back
of the room. Most people prefer the back because they’re afraid of being noticed. This reflects a lack of
self confidence. By deciding to sit in the front row, you can get over this irrational fear and build your
self confidence. You’ll also be more visible to the important people talking from the front of the room.
6. Speak up
During group discussions many people never speak up because they’re afraid that people will judge
them for saying something stupid. This fear isn’t really justified. By making an effort to speak up at
least once in every group discussion, you’ll become a better public speaker, more confident in your
own thoughts, and recognized as a leader by your peers.
7. Work out
Along the same lines as personal appearance, physical fitness has a huge effect on self confidence. If
you’re out of shape, you’ll feel insecure, unattractive, and less energetic. By working out, you improve
your physical appearance, energize yourself, and accomplish something positive. Having the discipline
to work out not only makes you feel better, it creates positive momentum that you can build on the
rest of the day.

INTRODUCTION: Call centers are comparatively a recent introduction to the world of career options in
India. The career avenues provided by call centers is one of the best suited and growing option which
even a fresher can opt for. With the opening up of the Indian economy and the arrival of globalization
more and more companies from abroad are basing or outsourcing their call centre services to India, a
trend started by GE when it established a call centre near New Delhi in 1998.

ELIGIBILITY: There are no specific educational qualifications required to become a CSO (Customer
                    re
Service Officer/Operator or call centre adviser/ representative, customer service representative) in a
call center. It is a good option for plus two or fresh college graduates as well as even housewives and
retired people.

Personal Skills and Attributes: The skills required vary depending on the project and the type of
business that is being handled. A very good command over English language is the main skill required.
Computer literacy, typing speed, knowledge of consumer behavior, the ability to enter and retrieve
          r
information quickly from databases and an ability to analyze problems are other useful skills that come
in handy.

Good communication and listening skills are important. CSO (Customer Service Officer) should have the
patience to listen to and comprehend the need, good natured, reasonably intelligent to choose
                en
between options and remedy problems effectively to the satisfaction of the customer. Persuasion skills
are needed in an 'outbound' contact centre where you either collect money from defaulting customers
 re
or try to promote sales and encourage customers to use your client’s products. They may be required
to work at odd hours especially in International Call centers where the customers may be calling from
                                                      centers
places where the timing may be several hours behind IST.
Training: Fresher’s have to undergo intense training to make themselves suited for the job. The
training include accent training, listening skills, 'slang' training, accent neutralization, telephone
etiquette, telesales etiquette and cyber grammar, interaction skills, customer relationship,
management skills and call centre terminology.

JOB PROSPECTS & CAREER OPTIONS: There is a great scope for Call centers in India. The large population of
educated English speaking people and the comparative low cost are encouraging more and more companies
from abroad to base or outsource their call centers to India. GE capital, American Express, Wipro Spectra Mind,
Daksh, Reliance Infotech is some of the call centers which are on a recruitment spree.

Call centre operators / Customer care executives
This is the entry level in call centers. Your general duties include answering telephone calls, taking
down details of the caller’s query and logging this information on a computer, providing the caller with
appropriate information or advice, in some cases, selling a caller products or services. In outbound call
centre services such as tele-marketing, an operator will also need to identify potential customers and
make outgoing calls marketing their organization’s product, occasionally following-up calls by sending
letters, faxes or e-mail, deal with customer complaints etc.

REMUNERATION: As a fresher, one could start his/her career in an International Call Center as a Call
Center Executive and earn highly attractive pay packages ranging from Rs. 6,500 to Rs.10,000
approximately per month other than bonuses for outstanding performances.

                               iation.
accounting principles. In managerial accounting, costs are considered in units of currency by
                                                                         units
convention. Managerial accounting can also be defined as a kind of cost accounting that covert the
supply chain into economic values. Supply chain is nothing but the sequence of events in the

                                                                             co-worker
association.

Performance management - Improves business by managing and evaluating and thereby giving the

feedback on presentation for managerial accounting (Wikipedia 2007[online]). Also, cost will be
compared to identify or benefits based on assumption for value added and non-value added actions.
Dependable information for the programs on cost and activities is critical for the efficient management

IMPORTANCE OF MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING: The main aim of managerial accounting is to improve
the efficiency and quality of operations by providing program owners and all others with suitable and
applicable cost based performance information to permit for nonstop improvement in distributing the
output to outcome the stockholders (allbusiness2007 [online]). Managerial accounting has been
developed and used with all from the beginning times to help all the directors to understand the costs
of running a project (Garrison Brewer). Modern managerial accounting is created during the industrial
revolution during the difficulties of running a large scale business which show the way to the
development of scheme for recording and checking costs to help business proprietors and managers to
finalize and make conclusions.

So, to conclude, for any business unit starting from the smallest business activity to the largest
multinational business to be succeeded requires the use of managerial accounting concept and
practices (Hendrik 2005). This accounting provides data to owners for preparation and scheming of
