2. BIOGRAPHY
Banksy, a street artist whose identity remains unknown, is
believed to have been born in Bristol, England, around 1974.
Not much is known about his life, since the artist remains
anonymous. Banksy is believed to have began his career as
an artist in the early 1990s, in Bristol's graffiti gang
DryBreadZ Crew. In the late 90’s, his work became widely
recognized around Bristol and in London, while his signature
style developed. Banksy’s first international exhibition
entitled ‘Existencilism’ was held in 2002 at L.A.’s 33 gallery.
Which was followed by a 2003 exhibit in London entitled Turf
Wars, which was held at a secret location in a warehouse. By
2004, Banksy was producing a number of new works for
future exhibits. By 2006, Banksy was a street artist who had
reached international reconnaissance as one of the most
controversial artists in the world. In 2008, he put together his
first official exhibition in New York. Ever since, Banksy has
been travelling the world, leaving behind him a trail of his
powerful, influential art.

3. ART STYLE
Banksy’s art can be characterized by striking images, often
combined with slogans. His pictorial and satirical messages
cross the boundaries between art, philosophy, politics,
sociology, humor and narcissism, often dealing with political
and social issues. His work deals with issues of He

anything he finds in the streets (street signs, stains, etc…).
