Aspergerâs Syndrome and Time Management
Keep Track of Homework Assignments
1. Get a calendar or planner that allows you to view one full month at a time.
2. Write all work related to your studies in this calendar.
3. Put the calendar somewhere where you will see it everyday at home.
4. Carry a memo pad to school each day. Write down all test dates and homework assignments
on this pad. Make sure that you do this as soon as you hear about them...otherwise you
might forget.
5. Add these to your calendar when you get home from school.
6. Make sure that you write the assignments and test dates down under the due date...not
the date on which you were told about them!
7. Sometimes the work for an assignment must be divided into separate stages. In this case
write each stage separately on your calendar un the appropriate dates. This will help you
plan your time better for larger assignments and projects.
Keep Track of Available Time
1. Divide your time into the following segments:
⢠Routine activities (eating, grooming etc.)
⢠Sleeping
⢠"Free" Time (available for studies, hobbies etc.)
⢠Time Spent at School
2. Plot your weekly routine on a graph
3. You will use this graph and the monthly calendar that you just created to make a detailed time
schedule.
Create a Schedule
1. Choose a time of day to set aside for homework. You will need to decide how to
divide your time between studying, fun and relaxation activities.
2. By looking at your calendar you will remember what you need to do that day for
homework.
3. By looking at your graph you will see when you have time available for homework.
4. Decide when you will do your homework. Mark it down on your graph. This will help
you remember.
5. If you follow this schedule it will become a habit and will be much easier to continue.
6. WARNING: Try not to put homework after time allotted to do something that you
enjoy. You might have a hard time stopping doing something fun to do something like
homework. Instead...reward yourself for time spent doing homework by following it
with something fun.
