2. The overall health of the river is okay.
For one example; dissolved oxygen is okay because the
percent that was needed to make it healthy is around 90%
and groups tests were 47%, 84%, 135%, and 95%.
Also the pH was very good because 1-6 is acidic, 7 in
neutral, and 8-14 is basic. Test results were 7, 7-8, 8, 7,
and 8.
PO4 isn’t very good for plants and animals. PO4 is what
allows plants and animals to grow and function. The PO4
for the Mullet river is 0, so that means that the Mullet river
isn’t good for plants and animals to be around.
Total Solids varies on which conditions the site you are
testing is in. The average answer was around. 11,000
mg/liter
3. Turbidity is pretty good because the higher the number
you get means the better turbidity. Our feet amounts were
1’9”, 2’7”, 1’10”, 8”, 12”, 1’10”, 3’6”, 3’11”, and 3’6”.
NO3 is kind of alright because when the number is less
than 1 mg/L, the water is at normal conditions and is okay
for fish to live in. Our amounts were 2.053 mg/L and 1.76
mg/L.
Temperature is okay because it effects the dissolved
oxygen in the water. When the water is warmer it is less
capable of holding dissolved oxygen. The temperatures we
got were 18*, 19*, 28*, 20*, 23*, 28*, and 23*.
B.O.D is bad because the test started out as 10, and it
went down 10 and that is very bad because it means that
the river is very polluted.
The reason for difference are the different times we took
tests and different areas.
4. pH- 7, 7-8, 8, and 7-8.
Po4- 0, 0, 0, and 0.
Turbidity 1’9”, 2’7”, 1’10”, 8”, 12”, 1’10”, 3’11”,
3’6”, and 3’6”.
NO3- 2.053 mg/L, and 1.76 mg/L.
Dissolved oxygen- 82%, 47%, 84%, 135%, 95%,
100%, 135%, and 130.5%.
Temperature- 18*C, 19*C, 28*C, 20*C, 23*C,
28*C, 23*C, and 20*C.
B.O.D- 100% (10 used)
Total Solids- 14,000mg/liter, 1,000 mg/liter,
20,000 mg/liter, 10,000mg/liter, and 2,000
mg/liter
5. Sources are the dump and landfill below
Riverview and the junk getting into the river
causing the water to pollute. Collected data is
cans, bags, and others.
Another source is the sun because it heats
the water which changes the temperature and
the temperature affects about everything
such as dissolved oxygen and pH.
6. You can improve the current conditions by
draining the river and cleaning out the junk at
the bottom and letting the mullet lake refill
the river.
A way to maintain or just not do anything to
the river, the current conditions by not
changing anything. If you were to do that,
eventually it could become a swamp.
