Self-Reflection
Distinguished members of the board, Self–reflection is one of the most challenging aspects of
writing. Rationalizing why I deserve the Top Graduate award is a humbling task, but I feel as
though I can present a strong argument. Consequently, the goal of this essay is to inform the
board of my journey at Park University. My selection to compete for this award has been an honor in
itself, and will do my best to give you my credentials. However, before I begin, I will lay out a
concise background on myself to help you understand a little about who I am. I am an active duty
Air Force member of eight years. Currently, I work in aircraft maintenance as a quality assurance
inspector. My job is great and I have no desire to ever leave. Family is...show more content...
Some of my abilities have roots in the automotive industry. Previous to the Air Force, I spent seven
years as a master certified Mercedes–Benz mechanic. Upon return from an eight–month deployment
I was contacted by a fellow airman I had never met. His vehicle had been disabled for almost three
months. He could not afford to have it fixed. My supervisor gave him my name, and I was able to
help. I completed about 30 hours of labor and needed only about $700 in parts. I was able to save
this airman around $3000 and did not charge him anything for my time. I was able to return this
family of five a vehicle for a fraction of the cost all while going to school and maintaining a 4.0
GPA. I believe in the brotherhood of the military member, and this is how I serve my community.
Again, it is tough to reflect on personal achievements. My time at Park was limited, but during my
degree pursuit, I tried to remain professional at work while still helping the Air Force community. I
love what I do for the Air Force, and selected my degree to further my abilities. Labors of love are
easy which is why I was able to achieve so much while going to school. Regardless of who is
selected for the Top Graduate award, I am humbled to have been considered, and appreciate your

In what ways are the data gathered from others (i.e. the data that serve as the basis of your
Reflected Best Self Portrait) similar or different from your own perceptions of your best self?
Overall, I'd say that the data gathered from others is reasonably similar to my own interpretation of
my best self. The general meaning of themes are all similar to what I'd mention, besides the caring
theme, but I'd say that when you look at the specifics and see why others believe that this is a
theme of my best self compared to why I see it as part of my best self, some clear differences
occur. I believe the best way of demonstrating this is by looking at each theme individually.
Regarding the theme of Organisation, I personally think that my peers do...show more content...
Most friends' examples are from the last three years because that's when I really started to open up
and gain confidence in the public sphere, especially Year 13. The main exception to this is when a
friend speaks about personal support which is something that has occurred for a much longer period
of time. As I mentioned before, the majority of examples, especially regarding leadership and
speaking are in reference to the time between Year 12 and 13, which I think shows that I only
showed my potential for my best self in public very recently. Even teachers reacted similarly. The
same questioned asked four years ago meant friends and teachers would've said more about being
kind, polite, and organised but ideas like leadership and speaking only came during the last two to

Essay On Self Reflection
Self–Reflection Essay For this semester, I wanted to steer away from my usual topic of sports for
research and focus on other aspects of my life that impact me personally. I then began to think
about all the other things in my life that I do on a dialy basis, and that's when music came into
mind. Listening to music is a part of my life that I use to help relieve my stress, stay focused
while doing other tasks, or just to fill quiet space when I am by myself. I chose to focus on Alicia
Keys because I have been listening to her music for as long as I can remember, and her very
inspirational persona was always intruiging to me. I wanted to find out more about her
advocational identity and compare it to the details behind her musical title and see which side
was more beneifcial to our society as a whole. However, since she also is considered a celebrity
figure, I was worried that the information I would be looking for would be invalid or biased.
When it comes to my presentation skills, I believe I have improved greatly and my strengths are
now starting to outweigh my weaknesses, especially regarding how I physically speak about my
choice of a topic compared to the overall setup of my actual presentatiom. Although I have improved
tremendously over the past three semesters of ALARP, there are still some spots and skills that
appeared in my final speech that I can adjust to make my presentations even better. These include my
volume, tone, and my eye contact. For example, as I

People are not usually humble enough to look critically at themselves, their work, or their lives.
Trying to be self–critical without being extraordinarily negative is a not an easy task to accomplish.
I have come a long way since the beginning of the semester in this writing intensive class. An honest
reflection of my work including honest advice and criticism received from classmates and the
professor helped me identify my strengths, weakness, and giving me the confidence I need to
continue writing in the future.
I am still not sure my strengths, yet I can certainly tell where I have improved. I have watched my
Flesch–Kincade writing score progress from an eighth–grade level to an eleventh–grade level. I have
found that I am better at helping someone put their spoken words onto paper than I am with my
own words. My classmates, Bryceann Twitty, points out in her peer review that I "took small
details/pieces of each story" that she thought "were insignificant and really made them important"
(Peer Review Week 11). It has not just been Twitty making that point about my discussions but
other classmates as well. I have learned not to use a question as a thesis statement "What is it
about my mother that would make me call out to her as I lay on the battlefield taking my last
breath?" as I did in my first essay, "Mother" (Thornton). The fact that I learn from my mistakes and
have improved upon them is a considerable strength. I still believe I have more to improve on

Self Reflection And Self Awareness
When I was told I was required to take this course, Women in Leadership, I was very nervous. I was
nervous because self–reflection and self–awareness are not something I focus on often. I tend to
worry more about others and their happiness and success, focusing on them instead of myself. Some
of this may be purposeful, but this class has helped me begin to self–reflect and I 've learned a great
deal about myself along the way.
I have many values and strengths, although it has taken me some time to recognize them. My main
values are focused around living, loving and learning. The things I value most about myself are my
self–determination, honesty, loyalty, and passion. I value personal fulfillment, family and friends,
health, education and humor. I 've been told by others that I 'm honest and trustworthy. They know
they can ask me anything and they will get a truthful, honest answer. My friends and family often
count on me for support and guidance as I 'm rational and tend to see the whole picture. I 've also
been told that I 'm a team player and a good listener.
I make decisions in my life based on my values and what drives me and lifts others up. My actions
reflect my core values. For example, I became a nurse because it affords me the ability to heal,
support, and teach patients and families in their weakest moments. I receive personal fulfillment in
nursing. I am a mother because it gives my life purpose and meaning. Motherhood is the hardest, but

Critical Self–Reflection Paper When first coming across this course, from the title, I expected the
course to discuss and educate us about aging women and the physical, mental, and emotional
changes they go through as they age. For example, I thought we would be discussing health issues
such as malnutrition, memory loss, and depression. Each of which are health concerns that have
been found to be associated with older women. In addition, I also expected the course to go into
details about the physical changes that women go through and how they affect them emotionally.
However, after beginning the course I realized that my expectations of this course were very basic
compared to what the course was about. In fact, I felt almost ashamed of my shallow expectations
because the course covered more important, broad issues that women deal with as they age. Most
of the issues discussed many people are unaware of and have no knowledge about. Women age 60
and up battle with inequality, lack of power, and how they are a less dominant group in our society.
DISCUSSION OF EXPECTATIONS The course description is a brief summation of what the
course will cover as far as topics. The course description describes the course Women and Aging as
exploring the ways that being a woman shape, or impact, the experience of aging among older
women. Some of the issues covered in this chapter include double standards, power, vulnerability,
feminism, intersectionality, ageism, sexism, and inequality.

Self Reflection
Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school essays
were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy grades.
Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been challenged yet to
demonstrate my full writing ability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a writer. Throughout this
course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside of me and because of
this, I was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written throughout the WRC
1013 course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills, communication skills and
personal responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in proofreading and learning how to
receive more revisions from my peers.
After going through my essays, one self–reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather was
my growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in my
first paper " Behind the Screen VS. The Real World", my annotation and gathering information
from sources was very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of
what Rita Dove was trying to say in her piece " Loose Ends". I state that, "As you can see, this is
one of many reasons as to how so much screen time can have a negative influence on people which
is what Rita Dove is implying in her article" ( Behind the Screen Vs. The Real World 2). This

can make is to be honest with oneself. Understanding their own feeling and being able to accept
who they are, before being able to be 'real' with others.
Since being aware of how self–observation and reflection are the most important tool for a
counsellor or therapist. I decided to analyses my behaviour and the reason for my approach to my

At first, I could not bear to hear his name, as the conversation continues I grow more impatient and
found myself feeling extremely annoy and unbearable thought about him.
Nonetheless, I wanted to understand and emphasis with her, the more pretend to be interested the
more I grow hostile. I though about my feelings and note how I felt, I realizes that the really hate
I felt towards my step dad while growing up, was in fact for my mother, I despised the fact that she
had put his needs and desire first, and has always pretend she was ok.
Look back on this, I think it was much easier and acceptable for me to hate him rather than my
mother. I always rebel in my relationships and often project my view on other who seems weak and
control by their male partner, before I could never understand why these women seems are incapable

Self–Reflection
1.One crisis in my life in recent years would have been when I was dating a controlling and
verbally abusive guy in college who my parents did not like. One evening my parents came to my
college to voice their concern and thoughts on our relationship. They were worried about me and
the choices I was making. I was frustrated with the tension I felt from my parents and the guy I
was dating. I remember telling them to let me make my own mistakes and decisions in life.
Looking back on the situation I know they were intervening because they cared about me and
wanted me to open my eyes to reality. I think it way they decided to respond was ineffective due
making me feel isolated and judged by them. They showed up out of the blue and had not told me
they were coming. I would have felt validation if they would have sat down with me to hear how
my relationship was going would have made it easier to hear their advice.

When others are hurting I tend to be empathetic and listen to what has happened. I try to keep
checking on them and see if they need anything. My clinical training has changed the way I respond
to emotional needs of family members by picking up themes and dynamics. I am able to better see
how certain situations at home are influencing their attitude or behaviors. I have been able to address
issues that come up with friends and family in a much more productive way than in the past.
3.I would describe myself as a novice in the ability to restore ruptures in the working alliance. I have
not been able to address potential problems or misunderstandings due to lack of experience working
with clients in a counseling relationship. I have not entered internship or counseled anyone at this
point in my training. I have addressed misunderstandings at work by explaining myself and what I
had meant in a statement or message.

Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs Essay
As a young girl, I barely interacted with the "crowds". I never understood why, though, but, I
really didn't have a problem with it at all. When I got to middle school, I started seeing these
different types of people and wondered what type of person I was. When I got to high school and
started taking Dual Enrollment, all of my thoughts about what type of person I was came to
action. During those classes, I learned a lot about myself. I never knew I could learn so much
about myself in a college class. Based upon the Holland Codes, I found out that I am Artistic and
Investigative. I also learned about the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I find myself upon the
Belongingness and Love Needs section of the pyramid. I am now learning about my Career
Clusters. I am more of an Arts, A/V Technology & Communications and Law & Public Safety type
of person. I also learned about my strengths and weaknesses based upon what I've learned.
Although I learned all of this about myself, I know I must improve in some areas in order to
facilitate my career success. When I found out about the Holland Codes, I thought that I could be
either–or, until my instructor told me otherwise. Based upon the codes, I learned that I can be both
Artistic and Investigative. When I found this out, I realized that this could really help me out with
my future career. Recently, I learned about my personality and found out why I don't communicate
with people as much: I am an Introvert. Introverts usually keep

Self–Reflection for English course
Over the years that I have been a student at Henry Ford community college, I have learned and
embraced the best thoughts that have come to nourish my writing skills. Writing has always been
one of my strengths and areas I have dreamt of perfecting. However, as I began the semester, a lot
of questions rang my mind about the goals I anticipated to accomplish. I was a bit anxious that I
was going to learn a new writing style, the MLA. Thus, I thought of the differences I would
experience in this style of writing compared to the previous ones I have learned. All in all, I was
happy that I was learning a new subjecting the area of writing. The semester formed the culmination
of my most learning experiences in the field of writing compared to other writing classes.
The English courses I have learned since I joined this college a few semesters ago have taught me
the art of writing and the language to use in the writing arena. When I started my course in this
college, I thought that I was going to spend most of the time reading classics, forming discussion
groups and writing about them. This is what we used to do in my previous college. In this college, I
realized there is more than just reading and writing papers. Throughout the coursework, our teacher,
Mr. Still assisted me to enhance my analytical skills through his marvelous guidance. I have learned
to question everything that I come across in my efforts to become the best writer. Mr. Still has

Importance Of Self Reflection
Research has been increasingly done on learning and self–reflect and its effectiveness, one of the
first researchers' john Dewey stated, 'we do not learn from experience... We learn from reflecting
on experience.' John believed that deep learning comes from array of experience, reflection,
abstraction, and active testing. James Zull's (2002) fascinating book on the biology of learning,
points out evidence that the learning cycles arises naturally from the structure of the brain. Donald
Schon also amongst the first to write about reflective practice with his exploration of experience,
interaction and reflection with his book 'the reflective practitioner' in 1983, Donald defines
reflective practice as the practice by which professionals become receptive of the implicit knowledge
base and learn from their experience. 'The practitioners allowed Donald to experience puzzlement,
surprise or confusion in a situation which is found uncertain or unique. Self–reflection is like
considering a mirror and describing what you see. The term refers to an activity or process in
which an experience is recalled, considered and evaluated to gain insight on oneself, ones valued or
knowledge gained. The ability to reflect on experience encourages insight and complex learning. In
contrast, self–reflection is a process used to study one's own performance in order to improve it. In
order for one to succeed, it is vital to have knowledge of what each strengths and weaknesses are for
self–development

To tackle my goals this semester I needed to have a clear focus. Tackling my goals this semester
has made me a stronger dancer. From the start of the semester, I have wanted to work on the
continuation of my goals from the previous semester. In each class I have worked on finding
ways to work on my goals anyway possible. Reflecting my work from the beginning of the
semester until now, I have seen myself wanting to be more dedicated to my goals each class. The
goals I had for the semester helped me to progress and I continue to work on the ones I struggle
with. By having a strong work ethic and clear focus I have had a chance to work on all my main
goals throughout the semester: musicality, fluidity, tension, staying lifted in the core, and
confidence. The first goal that I have worked on is my musicality. Musicality has never been a
strong point for me, but I have worked in every class to hear the counts and accents, depending on
the combination that is currently being worked on at the barre. This has been a weakness in almost
every class, and I wish to continue to work on it in the future. One...show more content...
This goal was an initial goal that I needed to work on and will continue to still work on. I still tend

not put too much force in any of my turns that I execute. This goal connects with my other goals
as well because it helps to keep my movement in more of a fluid way. I am unsure why this is

I am currently a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio for almost a whole semester
now. I came to this school straight out of high school, not knowing what I was getting myself into.
During my high school years, I was good at every subject except my writing class. Coming to
UTSA, I knew I was going to struggle in my writing class, but that didn't discourage me from not
trying my best in the course. Going through the English program, I realized that I have some
strengths and weaknesses in the class, and it encouraged me to do better. The essays I have written
for this class demonstrate that I have developed a strong thesis, organization skills, and detail;
however, I still need to improve on grammar, keeping the POV, and citing. When writing anessay or
summary, one of the most important factors I feel helps the reader understand what the essay will
be about is the thesis. Having a well–structured thesis is helpful because it gives me an idea of what
I want the general direction of my paper to be. For example, in my literary, in my thesis I write,
"In the essay 'Pride' by Dagoberto Gilb, he shows how even though people are poor and Mexican
American they can find pride in their culture, work, and success." ("Have Pride In Where You
Come From" Final 1). This thesis clearly states all three points and it is easy for the reader to
understand that the essay will be about being prideful. Another example of a strong thesis is in my
proposal essay, in my thesis I write,

Four generations work under one Roof!
It is impossible all the employees in an industry conducted a same generation, same education level,

problems among the employees while during the working operation. This might be a challenge for

Conversely, the elder generation is always think that young generation is lack of experiences and

Experiences sharing
It is also a chance for the employees to gain the working experiences or social experiences during
team building. The employees may share their previous working experiences to their partner or
team. It is clear that everyone has the different experiences no matter it is fun, interesting or
upsetting. This is an occasion for the employees to gain the experiences from their partner which
they never face or happened before. This experiences sharing is advantage to the young generation or
the freshman who just start their working life. With this, the employees may get the knowledge from
the experiences sharing by their working partner and they may refer this to face the problem while

Core Value
Team building is not only to improve the employee's teamwork, but it is also to strengthen the core
value of the employees to their work. Some of the employee does not ensure their situation or
doubtful with their job whether the job is suitable for them or not. Many of the employees may think
that they are only temporary work with this company and will transfer to other company soon. This

Dr. Hawking's Origin Of The Universe
"Self– awareness doesn't stop you from making mistakes, it allows you to learn from them".
Self–reflection is an important factor in improving oneself. In the past, the essays that I have written
have mainly received positive feedback. Despite this, there is still much room for improvement in
my writing. Earlier in the semester, I was assigned an essay for my chemistry lab class. We were
instructed to watch a video about Dr. Stephen Hawking's theory on the origin of the universe and
then to summarize the video in a 500–word essay. In my opinion, the essay I wrote titled "Dr.
Hawking's Origin of the Universe" was merely average. Although there were some very strong
points made throughout the essay, it can be improved on in many other areas. My strengths in this
assignment were my use of accelerated vocabulary and the essay's strong conclusion. The
weaknesses of my essay were the vague nature of my explanations in addition to my lack of a works
cited page. For the essay, we had to watch "Stephen Hawking's Universe – The Story of Everything"
and explain the video. The video can be found on Vimeo's website and is approximately 45 minutes
long. The subject matter covered in the video was the theory that the origin of the universe and all
matter began with the Big Bang. The video also covered the theory of the formation of the elements.

Self Reflection Essay
As an individual makes their way through life, it is easy to forget the exquisitely beautiful and
complex inner lives that seemingly play second fiddle towards the immediacy of the everyday.
Self–reflection can serve as a vital tool for one to understand, analyze, and correct behaviors or
outlooks that affect the way everyday interactions are handled. One such way to reflect is through
the use of online evaluations, which can measure everything from assertiveness to deep underlying
characteristics. The tests to identify the Locus of Control are based on an individual's perception of
direct or indirect control over their own situation. However, some might say that an individual's
position in life can be entirely dictated by the level of assertiveness towards it. While very revealing,
the results of test such as these do have the possibility to change with the passage of time and
subsequent growth of the individual. Today, I have completed some such evaluations and found that
my current self–image of my imaginative analytical nature seems to be continuously confirmed. In
summation, the tests I participated in measured the following three things: my personality in term of
the OCEAN scale, my perception in the context of Locus of Control, and my overall assertiveness
towards interactions with others. Starting with the "Big 5" OCEAN model test, I scored highly in
the first 4 categories; The 91st percentile for open–mindedness, the 56th on conscientiousness, the
90th on extroversion, and the 75th on agreeableness respectively. My lowest score came with the
final category of negative emotionality, where I scored in the 46th percentile. These results
honestly came to no such surprise to me because I have spent much time personally meditating and
evaluating my own personality and tendencies to the best of my knowledge. What did surprise me
is that my agreeableness is as high as it is. I agree with the results, looking back at how I normally
interact with my friends and colleagues, because it seems to not only describe the way I handle
situations, but also highlighted the characteristics I personally try to focus on and enhance
consciously. According to the "plaster theory," my traits should be set in stone by age 30,

Self Reflection On Entrepreneurship
In this assignment I aim to self–reflect on my personal entrepreneurial skill.
According to the Cambridge dictionary self–reflection is 'the activity of thinking about your own
feelings and behaviour, and the reasons that may lie behind them'. Self–reflection is a crucial part of
development, one of the reasons for this is because self–reflection enables you to review yourself. It
then becomes easier for you to evaluate your performance, this can be used to make improvements
for the future.
Entrepreneurship
The Oxford dictionary define entrepreneurship as 'The activity of setting up a business or businesses,
taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.' An Entrepreneur consists of an individual who is both
creative and innovative; I believe an entrepreneur is an open–minded individual; this enables them to
think of creative thoughts and ideas that they can use to set–up their own business/businesses. In
order to put these creative thoughts and ideas to good use they also need to be innovative. The
'Business Dictionary' states that Entrepreneurship is 'The capacity and willingness to develop,
organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit.' This
supports the fact that as an entrepreneur you need to be willing to take calculated risks, with the aim
of prospering and therefore meeting aims and objectives. An entrepreneur needs to be able to handle
taking a loss; an entrepreneur would usually learn from this to enhance their skills so that less
mistakes occur in the future.
Self–Reflection is crucial for development (Kolb, 1984)
In my previous education institution, a reflection was undertaken in teamworking. We worked as a
team and set–up a project for a talent show. After we accomplished this we handed out questionnaires
to our audience (to gather feedback on how we performed); we were then able to use the distributed
questionnaire to gather more knowledge and understanding on various methods that we could
improve for the future.
Hobbs and Kolb are authors who have a strong belief in reflecting on your work. As an
entrepreneur this is crucial as it enables you to find any errors that you may have made to then
rectify them. An example of this is when I

During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of
knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have

were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon
throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those

feel that I have made some progress in the course (mainly using logos, ethos, and pathos as a

progress in the ability to to use feedback and revise my writings which was a course goal. In this
case, many rhetorical strategies were employed. Revisions weren't as simple as changing grammar
and using correct punctuation (although that was something that helped me grow as a writer). A
change of style was implemented from my "Cornell–styled Box Project Proposal #1" to my revision.
I also used feedback I received to rewrite many parts of my rewrite. Effectively using feedback has
helped me move towards the course goals since revisions were never my strong point. This usually
was because I never needed to do many revisions in high school and especially since high school was
much easier than now. Also, I progressed enough to understand how to use the pathos in one text and

Self Reflection Essays

  • 1. Self-Reflection Distinguished members of the board, Self–reflection is one of the most challenging aspects of writing. Rationalizing why I deserve the Top Graduate award is a humbling task, but I feel as though I can present a strong argument. Consequently, the goal of this essay is to inform the board of my journey at Park University. My selection to compete for this award has been an honor in itself, and will do my best to give you my credentials. However, before I begin, I will lay out a concise background on myself to help you understand a little about who I am. I am an active duty Air Force member of eight years. Currently, I work in aircraft maintenance as a quality assurance inspector. My job is great and I have no desire to ever leave. Family is...show more content... Some of my abilities have roots in the automotive industry. Previous to the Air Force, I spent seven years as a master certified Mercedes–Benz mechanic. Upon return from an eight–month deployment I was contacted by a fellow airman I had never met. His vehicle had been disabled for almost three months. He could not afford to have it fixed. My supervisor gave him my name, and I was able to help. I completed about 30 hours of labor and needed only about $700 in parts. I was able to save this airman around $3000 and did not charge him anything for my time. I was able to return this family of five a vehicle for a fraction of the cost all while going to school and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I believe in the brotherhood of the military member, and this is how I serve my community. Again, it is tough to reflect on personal achievements. My time at Park was limited, but during my degree pursuit, I tried to remain professional at work while still helping the Air Force community. I love what I do for the Air Force, and selected my degree to further my abilities. Labors of love are easy which is why I was able to achieve so much while going to school. Regardless of who is selected for the Top Graduate award, I am humbled to have been considered, and appreciate your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Best Self Reflection Paper In what ways are the data gathered from others (i.e. the data that serve as the basis of your Reflected Best Self Portrait) similar or different from your own perceptions of your best self? Overall, I'd say that the data gathered from others is reasonably similar to my own interpretation of my best self. The general meaning of themes are all similar to what I'd mention, besides the caring theme, but I'd say that when you look at the specifics and see why others believe that this is a theme of my best self compared to why I see it as part of my best self, some clear differences occur. I believe the best way of demonstrating this is by looking at each theme individually. Regarding the theme of Organisation, I personally think that my peers do...show more content... Most friends' examples are from the last three years because that's when I really started to open up and gain confidence in the public sphere, especially Year 13. The main exception to this is when a friend speaks about personal support which is something that has occurred for a much longer period of time. As I mentioned before, the majority of examples, especially regarding leadership and speaking are in reference to the time between Year 12 and 13, which I think shows that I only showed my potential for my best self in public very recently. Even teachers reacted similarly. The same questioned asked four years ago meant friends and teachers would've said more about being kind, polite, and organised but ideas like leadership and speaking only came during the last two to three Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On Self Reflection Self–Reflection Essay For this semester, I wanted to steer away from my usual topic of sports for research and focus on other aspects of my life that impact me personally. I then began to think about all the other things in my life that I do on a dialy basis, and that's when music came into mind. Listening to music is a part of my life that I use to help relieve my stress, stay focused while doing other tasks, or just to fill quiet space when I am by myself. I chose to focus on Alicia Keys because I have been listening to her music for as long as I can remember, and her very inspirational persona was always intruiging to me. I wanted to find out more about her advocational identity and compare it to the details behind her musical title and see which side was more beneifcial to our society as a whole. However, since she also is considered a celebrity figure, I was worried that the information I would be looking for would be invalid or biased. When it comes to my presentation skills, I believe I have improved greatly and my strengths are now starting to outweigh my weaknesses, especially regarding how I physically speak about my choice of a topic compared to the overall setup of my actual presentatiom. Although I have improved tremendously over the past three semesters of ALARP, there are still some spots and skills that appeared in my final speech that I can adjust to make my presentations even better. These include my volume, tone, and my eye contact. For example, as I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay On Self Reflection People are not usually humble enough to look critically at themselves, their work, or their lives. Trying to be self–critical without being extraordinarily negative is a not an easy task to accomplish. I have come a long way since the beginning of the semester in this writing intensive class. An honest reflection of my work including honest advice and criticism received from classmates and the professor helped me identify my strengths, weakness, and giving me the confidence I need to continue writing in the future. I am still not sure my strengths, yet I can certainly tell where I have improved. I have watched my Flesch–Kincade writing score progress from an eighth–grade level to an eleventh–grade level. I have found that I am better at helping someone put their spoken words onto paper than I am with my own words. My classmates, Bryceann Twitty, points out in her peer review that I "took small details/pieces of each story" that she thought "were insignificant and really made them important" (Peer Review Week 11). It has not just been Twitty making that point about my discussions but other classmates as well. I have learned not to use a question as a thesis statement "What is it about my mother that would make me call out to her as I lay on the battlefield taking my last breath?" as I did in my first essay, "Mother" (Thornton). The fact that I learn from my mistakes and have improved upon them is a considerable strength. I still believe I have more to improve on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Self Reflection And Self Awareness When I was told I was required to take this course, Women in Leadership, I was very nervous. I was nervous because self–reflection and self–awareness are not something I focus on often. I tend to worry more about others and their happiness and success, focusing on them instead of myself. Some of this may be purposeful, but this class has helped me begin to self–reflect and I 've learned a great deal about myself along the way. I have many values and strengths, although it has taken me some time to recognize them. My main values are focused around living, loving and learning. The things I value most about myself are my self–determination, honesty, loyalty, and passion. I value personal fulfillment, family and friends, health, education and humor. I 've been told by others that I 'm honest and trustworthy. They know they can ask me anything and they will get a truthful, honest answer. My friends and family often count on me for support and guidance as I 'm rational and tend to see the whole picture. I 've also been told that I 'm a team player and a good listener. I make decisions in my life based on my values and what drives me and lifts others up. My actions reflect my core values. For example, I became a nurse because it affords me the ability to heal, support, and teach patients and families in their weakest moments. I receive personal fulfillment in nursing. I am a mother because it gives my life purpose and meaning. Motherhood is the hardest, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Writing Self-Reflection Essay Providence when not divine ,it is foresight' was a thought that was always haunting me from childhood, little knowing that later in my life the writer in me is taking its shape. At times I thought why I could not solve problems academic as well as personal by using the same kind of thinking which we used when we created them ,as my greatest problem was what to do about all the things I couldn't do anything about. Time passed and I set sails for SJSU.On arriving here ,I realised that I had grown wings and my perception of life had changed,so had ,my line–of–thought.Earlier, it was a kind of guided writing ,but now it had turned innovative, having an original subtle learning towards 'thought provoking themes' that were inspired by...show more content... • 7. Essay On Self Reflection Critical Self–Reflection Paper When first coming across this course, from the title, I expected the course to discuss and educate us about aging women and the physical, mental, and emotional changes they go through as they age. For example, I thought we would be discussing health issues such as malnutrition, memory loss, and depression. Each of which are health concerns that have been found to be associated with older women. In addition, I also expected the course to go into details about the physical changes that women go through and how they affect them emotionally. However, after beginning the course I realized that my expectations of this course were very basic compared to what the course was about. In fact, I felt almost ashamed of my shallow expectations because the course covered more important, broad issues that women deal with as they age. Most of the issues discussed many people are unaware of and have no knowledge about. Women age 60 and up battle with inequality, lack of power, and how they are a less dominant group in our society. DISCUSSION OF EXPECTATIONS The course description is a brief summation of what the course will cover as far as topics. The course description describes the course Women and Aging as exploring the ways that being a woman shape, or impact, the experience of aging among older women. Some of the issues covered in this chapter include double standards, power, vulnerability, feminism, intersectionality, ageism, sexism, and inequality. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Self Reflection Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school essays were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy grades. Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been challenged yet to demonstrate my full writing ability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a writer. Throughout this course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside of me and because of this, I was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written throughout the WRC 1013 course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills, communication skills and personal responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in proofreading and learning how to receive more revisions from my peers. After going through my essays, one self–reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather was my growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in my first paper " Behind the Screen VS. The Real World", my annotation and gathering information from sources was very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of what Rita Dove was trying to say in her piece " Loose Ends". I state that, "As you can see, this is one of many reasons as to how so much screen time can have a negative influence on people which is what Rita Dove is implying in her article" ( Behind the Screen Vs. The Real World 2). This Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Self Reflection Research Paper Self–Reflection 1.One crisis in my life in recent years would have been when I was dating a controlling and verbally abusive guy in college who my parents did not like. One evening my parents came to my college to voice their concern and thoughts on our relationship. They were worried about me and the choices I was making. I was frustrated with the tension I felt from my parents and the guy I was dating. I remember telling them to let me make my own mistakes and decisions in life. Looking back on the situation I know they were intervening because they cared about me and wanted me to open my eyes to reality. I think it way they decided to respond was ineffective due making me feel isolated and judged by them. They showed up out of the blue and had not told me they were coming. I would have felt validation if they would have sat down with me to hear how my relationship was going would have made it easier to hear their advice. 2....show more content... I have been able to address issues that come up with friends and family in a much more productive way than in the past. 3.I would describe myself as a novice in the ability to restore ruptures in the working alliance. I have not been able to address potential problems or misunderstandings due to lack of experience working with clients in a counseling relationship. • 11. Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs Essay As a young girl, I barely interacted with the "crowds". I never understood why, though, but, I really didn't have a problem with it at all. When I got to middle school, I started seeing these different types of people and wondered what type of person I was. When I got to high school and started taking Dual Enrollment, all of my thoughts about what type of person I was came to action. During those classes, I learned a lot about myself. I never knew I could learn so much about myself in a college class. Based upon the Holland Codes, I found out that I am Artistic and Investigative. I also learned about the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I find myself upon the Belongingness and Love Needs section of the pyramid. I am now learning about my Career Clusters. I am more of an Arts, A/V Technology & Communications and Law & Public Safety type of person. I also learned about my strengths and weaknesses based upon what I've learned. Although I learned all of this about myself, I know I must improve in some areas in order to facilitate my career success. When I found out about the Holland Codes, I thought that I could be either–or, until my instructor told me otherwise. Based upon the codes, I learned that I can be both Artistic and Investigative. When I found this out, I realized that this could really help me out with my future career. Recently, I learned about my personality and found out why I don't communicate with people as much: I am an Introvert. Introverts usually keep Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Self Reflection Self–Reflection for English course Over the years that I have been a student at Henry Ford community college, I have learned and embraced the best thoughts that have come to nourish my writing skills. Writing has always been one of my strengths and areas I have dreamt of perfecting. However, as I began the semester, a lot of questions rang my mind about the goals I anticipated to accomplish. I was a bit anxious that I was going to learn a new writing style, the MLA. Thus, I thought of the differences I would experience in this style of writing compared to the previous ones I have learned. All in all, I was happy that I was learning a new subjecting the area of writing. The semester formed the culmination of my most learning experiences in the field of writing compared to other writing classes. The English courses I have learned since I joined this college a few semesters ago have taught me the art of writing and the language to use in the writing arena. When I started my course in this college, I thought that I was going to spend most of the time reading classics, forming discussion groups and writing about them. This is what we used to do in my previous college. In this college, I realized there is more than just reading and writing papers. Throughout the coursework, our teacher, Mr. Still assisted me to enhance my analytical skills through his marvelous guidance. I have learned to question everything that I come across in my efforts to become the best writer. Mr. Still has Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Importance Of Self Reflection Research has been increasingly done on learning and self–reflect and its effectiveness, one of the first researchers' john Dewey stated, 'we do not learn from experience... We learn from reflecting on experience.' John believed that deep learning comes from array of experience, reflection, abstraction, and active testing. James Zull's (2002) fascinating book on the biology of learning, points out evidence that the learning cycles arises naturally from the structure of the brain. Donald Schon also amongst the first to write about reflective practice with his exploration of experience, interaction and reflection with his book 'the reflective practitioner' in 1983, Donald defines reflective practice as the practice by which professionals become receptive of the implicit knowledge base and learn from their experience. 'The practitioners allowed Donald to experience puzzlement, surprise or confusion in a situation which is found uncertain or unique. Self–reflection is like considering a mirror and describing what you see. The term refers to an activity or process in which an experience is recalled, considered and evaluated to gain insight on oneself, ones valued or knowledge gained. The ability to reflect on experience encourages insight and complex learning. In contrast, self–reflection is a process used to study one's own performance in order to improve it. In order for one to succeed, it is vital to have knowledge of what each strengths and weaknesses are for self–development Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Self-Reflection To tackle my goals this semester I needed to have a clear focus. Tackling my goals this semester has made me a stronger dancer. From the start of the semester, I have wanted to work on the continuation of my goals from the previous semester. In each class I have worked on finding ways to work on my goals anyway possible. Reflecting my work from the beginning of the semester until now, I have seen myself wanting to be more dedicated to my goals each class. The goals I had for the semester helped me to progress and I continue to work on the ones I struggle with. By having a strong work ethic and clear focus I have had a chance to work on all my main goals throughout the semester: musicality, fluidity, tension, staying lifted in the core, and confidence. The first goal that I have worked on is my musicality. Musicality has never been a strong point for me, but I have worked in every class to hear the counts and accents, depending on the combination that is currently being worked on at the barre. This has been a weakness in almost every class, and I wish to continue to work on it in the future. One...show more content... This can also not help me not put too much force in any of my turns that I execute. This goal connects with my other goals as well because it helps to keep my movement in more of a fluid way. I am unsure why this is happening lately, but I need to work on this any way that I can. The way that I would like to work on fixing this issue is just dropping my shoulders by not lifting them as I am balancing or executing any movements while I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Self Reflection I am currently a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio for almost a whole semester now. I came to this school straight out of high school, not knowing what I was getting myself into. During my high school years, I was good at every subject except my writing class. Coming to UTSA, I knew I was going to struggle in my writing class, but that didn't discourage me from not trying my best in the course. Going through the English program, I realized that I have some strengths and weaknesses in the class, and it encouraged me to do better. The essays I have written for this class demonstrate that I have developed a strong thesis, organization skills, and detail; however, I still need to improve on grammar, keeping the POV, and citing. When writing anessay or summary, one of the most important factors I feel helps the reader understand what the essay will be about is the thesis. Having a well–structured thesis is helpful because it gives me an idea of what I want the general direction of my paper to be. For example, in my literary, in my thesis I write, "In the essay 'Pride' by Dagoberto Gilb, he shows how even though people are poor and Mexican American they can find pride in their culture, work, and success." ("Have Pride In Where You Come From" Final 1). This thesis clearly states all three points and it is easy for the reader to understand that the essay will be about being prideful. Another example of a strong thesis is in my proposal essay, in my thesis I write, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Dr. Hawking's Origin Of The Universe "Self– awareness doesn't stop you from making mistakes, it allows you to learn from them". Self–reflection is an important factor in improving oneself. In the past, the essays that I have written have mainly received positive feedback. Despite this, there is still much room for improvement in my writing. Earlier in the semester, I was assigned an essay for my chemistry lab class. We were instructed to watch a video about Dr. Stephen Hawking's theory on the origin of the universe and then to summarize the video in a 500–word essay. In my opinion, the essay I wrote titled "Dr. Hawking's Origin of the Universe" was merely average. Although there were some very strong points made throughout the essay, it can be improved on in many other areas. My strengths in this assignment were my use of accelerated vocabulary and the essay's strong conclusion. The weaknesses of my essay were the vague nature of my explanations in addition to my lack of a works cited page. For the essay, we had to watch "Stephen Hawking's Universe – The Story of Everything" and explain the video. The video can be found on Vimeo's website and is approximately 45 minutes long. The subject matter covered in the video was the theory that the origin of the universe and all matter began with the Big Bang. The video also covered the theory of the formation of the elements. Dr. Hawking, along with many other great scientific figures, believes that a celestial event known as the Big Bang kick–started the formation Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Self Reflection Essay As an individual makes their way through life, it is easy to forget the exquisitely beautiful and complex inner lives that seemingly play second fiddle towards the immediacy of the everyday. Self–reflection can serve as a vital tool for one to understand, analyze, and correct behaviors or outlooks that affect the way everyday interactions are handled. One such way to reflect is through the use of online evaluations, which can measure everything from assertiveness to deep underlying characteristics. The tests to identify the Locus of Control are based on an individual's perception of direct or indirect control over their own situation. However, some might say that an individual's position in life can be entirely dictated by the level of assertiveness towards it. While very revealing, the results of test such as these do have the possibility to change with the passage of time and subsequent growth of the individual. Today, I have completed some such evaluations and found that my current self–image of my imaginative analytical nature seems to be continuously confirmed. In summation, the tests I participated in measured the following three things: my personality in term of the OCEAN scale, my perception in the context of Locus of Control, and my overall assertiveness towards interactions with others. Starting with the "Big 5" OCEAN model test, I scored highly in the first 4 categories; The 91st percentile for open–mindedness, the 56th on conscientiousness, the 90th on extroversion, and the 75th on agreeableness respectively. My lowest score came with the final category of negative emotionality, where I scored in the 46th percentile. These results honestly came to no such surprise to me because I have spent much time personally meditating and evaluating my own personality and tendencies to the best of my knowledge. What did surprise me is that my agreeableness is as high as it is. I agree with the results, looking back at how I normally interact with my friends and colleagues, because it seems to not only describe the way I handle situations, but also highlighted the characteristics I personally try to focus on and enhance consciously. According to the "plaster theory," my traits should be set in stone by age 30, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Self Reflection On Entrepreneurship In this assignment I aim to self–reflect on my personal entrepreneurial skill. According to the Cambridge dictionary self–reflection is 'the activity of thinking about your own feelings and behaviour, and the reasons that may lie behind them'. Self–reflection is a crucial part of development, one of the reasons for this is because self–reflection enables you to review yourself. It then becomes easier for you to evaluate your performance, this can be used to make improvements for the future. Entrepreneurship The Oxford dictionary define entrepreneurship as 'The activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.' An Entrepreneur consists of an individual who is both creative and innovative; I believe an entrepreneur is an open–minded individual; this enables them to think of creative thoughts and ideas that they can use to set–up their own business/businesses. In order to put these creative thoughts and ideas to good use they also need to be innovative. The 'Business Dictionary' states that Entrepreneurship is 'The capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit.' This supports the fact that as an entrepreneur you need to be willing to take calculated risks, with the aim of prospering and therefore meeting aims and objectives. An entrepreneur needs to be able to handle taking a loss; an entrepreneur would usually learn from this to enhance their skills so that less mistakes occur in the future. Self–Reflection is crucial for development (Kolb, 1984) In my previous education institution, a reflection was undertaken in teamworking. We worked as a team and set–up a project for a talent show. After we accomplished this we handed out questionnaires to our audience (to gather feedback on how we performed); we were then able to use the distributed questionnaire to gather more knowledge and understanding on various methods that we could improve for the future. Hobbs and Kolb are authors who have a strong belief in reflecting on your work. As an entrepreneur this is crucial as it enables you to find any errors that you may have made to then rectify them. An example of this is when I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Self-Reflective Essay During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. I believe that I have made sufficient progress towards becoming a better...show more content... The logos of the box would be derived from . . . The pathos of this box could be interpreted from . . . In this paper alone, I feel that I have made some progress in the course (mainly using logos, ethos, and pathos as a rhetorical strategy in this paper). My second pieces of writings (two proposals) reflected my progress in the ability to to use feedback and revise my writings which was a course goal. In this case, many rhetorical strategies were employed. Revisions weren't as simple as changing grammar and using correct punctuation (although that was something that helped me grow as a writer). A change of style was implemented from my "Cornell–styled Box Project Proposal #1" to my revision. I also used feedback I received to rewrite many parts of my rewrite. Effectively using feedback has helped me move towards the course goals since revisions were never my strong point. This usually was because I never needed to do many revisions in high school and especially since high school was much easier than now. Also, I progressed enough to understand how to use the pathos in one text and turn it into something entirely different yet arguing the same things. "The strongest feeling I received from the text Inception is the cliched saying of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
