Greed is one of the worst feelings you can live with. It welcomes fear and paranoy untill
everything is dark and pointless. the universe has made it clear to me that when you want
something too much, you will most likely never recieve it. The best advice I can give you is to
just live life in the moment, be happy with who you are, but, also never settle for something below
you. dream. Have the courage and the strenght to persue those dreams, but also don't go chasing
them so much that you chase them away. Be patient. Follow your dreams and they will lead you to
you destination. If it's meant to happen it will happen when it happens. So, go out, live your life
and then one day, when you least expect it your dream will come true.

The Microsoft Encarta dictionary defines greed as "an overwhelming desire to have more of
something such as money than is actually needed." This definition cannot be argued with for it is
plain and simple, giving the essence of the word. But to millions, perhaps billions of people, greed
is something else. Some people portray greed as being qualities of the evil, selfish, and corrupt.
Although these viewpoints may be partially true, greed cannot be condemned as solely being an

The logic evolved into the Marxism System of Government that successfully lasted for a few
months in the USSR before going corrupt. During its existence, Marxism eradicated the concept of
ownership, but at a cost; the lack of motivation in the Marxist society made development a waste of
time and production a waste of effort. This led to the corruption and eventual collapse of the
government. Thus, a society without properly and efficiently integrating greed into itself will lose

Corporate greed, by definition, is when a company chooses to place significance on increasing
profits in a way that harms employees, consumers and the environment. It occurs when making
money becomes the only goal, and the other company's social responsibility is ignored. There is
some debate with companies over whether they are being greedy versus looking for the best
business practice. How can one tell if a company's practice is defined as corporate greed or if the
company is just working to reduce costs in order to increase profit growth? How much social

For example a dairy industry called Sanlu Group added melamine, a chemical that increases the
appearance of protein in standard tests ("Toxic milk toll rockets in China", 2008), to their milk
powder which eventually caused "four babies to die and about 54,000 children have been found to
be suffering from kidney stones" (Paul,2008). In fact, in late 2007, Sanlu Group had received many
complaints from the parents. In spite of this, Sanlu Group paid no attention and continued to produce
their products. In 2008, the issue broke out and Sanlu Group decided to respond, which helped them
control and steady the situation. Despite this, the milk powder scandal was responsible for the
severe fall of Sanlu Group's reputation and they eventually went bankrupt. As demonstrated by the
previous example Sanlu's greed led to bankruptcy, largely because of undermining the importance of
public image.
A good place to find how corporate greed can motivate corporations to act unethically is in the

The Bible classifies the seven deadly sins – greed, envy, sloth, wrath, gluttony, pride and lust– as the
characteristics of people which will lead to unhappiness. One particular sin evident in our world
today is greed. Greed is defined as an excessive desire to possess wealth or goods. The greed that

When a person uses another to gain money, power or goods, it is self–centered. These television
shows are based around bringing together two people who have never met in the past, based on
the fact that one of the two individuals have money. Choosing to be in a relationship on the basis
that the later has money will lead to unhappiness. With no love and only money keeping the two

On the other hand, if one can be greedy in their pursuit of money does this mean a person or group
could have a selfish and have an excessive desire to help other people, or rather, is it possible for a
person to be greedy for generosity. Is the Catholic Church to greedy when it comes to charity? Can a

Greed and its Essential Influence At first glance the relaxed generosity of happy go lucky
medical professionals in France, and the fierce battles of intense cockers in Afghanistan appear

ailments are given large names. We are reminded that in the old days one could die from having a
fever. We are scared into shelling out money for often unnecessary, always over priced,

Greed is the excessive desire to acquire or possess more, and it is also one of the biggest creators
of tragedy. This is so vividly shown in both the novel The Sun Also Rises and in the play Macbeth.
In The Sun Also Rises, this greed is directed toward a person, Lady Brett Ashley. Five men; Mike,

In both stories, the main character achieves the goal that their greed compels them to do. In The Sun
Also Rises, Jake's lust for Brett drives him to have an affair with her, in which he thinks that she
dearly loves him and he loves her. During the affair, Jake is always so tight with Brett, meaning he
does not give her much freedom. Jake lets Brett dance with other friends and drink with other
people, but any move that would be against their relationship, Jake would get angry. For example,
when Brett had a drink with Count Mippipolous, and invited him home, Jake made her send him
away, even though the count did not have any thoughts on her at that time. This is easily
comparable to Macbeth, by the fact that Macbeth is "indecisive and is a tyrannical leader", and he
did anything to stay in power. For example, when Macbeth hired the three murderers to kill Banquo
and Fleance, because according to the witches, all of Banquo's sons will be King. Eventually, this

the behavior and have formed two theories; one claiming greed is part of human biology and the

the shop owners. Both of these characters know it is human blood, but they do not care. As word
spread, so did human greed and competition. The next day the shop owner is barraged with masses

The cure, in Martel's "We Ate the Children Last", is a breakthrough discovery using pig intestines
to rid humans of cancer (Martel 101). Patient D is the first patient to receive the transplant and the
success of the procedure gains national attention. He becomes healthier and more fit that he has ever
been. The press brings attention to the success of the procedure and soon the entire town wants one,
"it caught on among the young and the bohemian, the chic and the radical, among all those who
wanted a change in their lives" (Martel 103). The race to become the next patient for some, was
driven not by illness, but by greed.
The second element of comparison to examine are the physical and behavioral similarities the
humans had to animals. In Evtimova's "Blood", man and mole are analogous to one another. The
pet shop owner feels at home staring at frogs, lizards, snakes and insects for hours without. The
gloom of the shop has provides a sense of peace and an odd feeling of home (85). Later in the story
the town wanted the shopkeeper's blood and came prepared to take all of it. The
