Tour plan:
Day 1: Lao Cai - One of the regional tribal markets -
Bac Ha (B , L, -)
Early arrival at Lao Cai station, welcomed by tour guide
and driver. Freshen up and breakfast in a local restaurant
near the station.
Leave Lao Cai for a road transfer to one of the following
weekly markets which play an important role in spiritual
and social life of the tribal ethnic peoples in the far north
region of Vietnam:
1. Bac Ha Market on Sun Day
2. Coc Ly Market on Tuesday.
3. Lung Khau Nhin Market on Thursday.
4. Cao Son Market on Wednesday.
5. Can Cau Market on Saturday.
Arriving to the market place at 09.30 to 10.00am and
spend the rest hours of the morning joining the local
ethnic peoples for the market activities and festive
atmosphere. Hill-tribal peoples such as Flower Hmong,
Zao, Tay, Zay’ wearing their best traditional costumes, go
to the market not only for shopping but also for meeting
and socializing.
Lunch break near the market place before transferring to Bac Ha Town let. Check in hotel upon arrival to Bac Ha
and take a short rest for freshen up.
The afternoon is for exploring the valley of Ban Pho. Take a leisure walk from hotel about 1,5 hour which form a
circle around the bottom of Ban Pho Valley through the Ban Pho 1 Village of the Hmong and Na Kheo Village of
the Nung.
Back to Hotel in late afternoon and time is set for free walk to explore Bac Ha town let.

Breakfast, check out hotel at 08.00. Driving uphill for 15 km and stop for a short walk to visit Ta Chai village of the
Phu La ethnic, located at the bottom of a stunning valley.
Continue the road trip along the provincial road heading to Xin Man, take some short walks to visit Hmong villages
at Ban Gia and Nam Ma before arriving to Xin Man town let for Lunch break.
Leaving Xin Man after lunch along the road 176 for 39 km, the road weaves its way along the Chay River, on steep
mountain sides offering beautiful landscapes of the Chay River massif. Enjoy some photo stops along the way and a
coffee break at Hoang Su Phi town let. Continue the road trip for nearly 2 hours to the Panhou, which is beautifully
set amongst the mountain and forest in a narrow valley of Thong Nguyen Commune. Check in the Panhou upon
arrival in mid afternoon.
The rest time of the afternoon is for walking to explore Ban Giang village of the Red Zao and Tay ethnic peoples
near by.

Day 3: Panhou - Nam An - Me village - Ha Giang - Bac Me (B, L, -)
Breakfast and leaving the Panhou at 08.00 and driving 16 km along the narrow country road to Hoang Su Phi
Heaven Gate, short stop for great view of the region in the morning sunlight. Continue the road trip for nearly an
hour to Nam An. Nam An used to be a narrow and deep valley, home to a small village of the Red Zao, built into a
lake for running a hydraulic power plant. Enjoy a leisure walk for over an hour to explore this stunning and isolated
valley and charming village. Leaving Nam An downhill 5 km and continue the trip along national road 2 for 45 km
to Ha Giang. Take a half an hour walk around Me village of the Tay before lunch break.
Leaving Ha Giang after lunch, following national road 34 for 3 hours through the lush region which is a
combination of prosperous vallleys, high mountains covered by thick forest. Enjoy several photo stops and an hour
walking through a beautiful valley, paying visiting to houses of the Tay ethnic people.
Back to the road and process to Bac Me town let. Check in hotel and free walk along the Gam River to explore this
charming town let in late afternoon.

Day 4: Bac Me - Meo Vac - Dong Van (B, L, -)
Breakfast and departure for Meo Vac. Follow national road 34 which sneaks along the Gam River amongst high
mountains and thick forest for 54 km which offers remoteness and stunning scenery. Enjoying some photo stops and
sightseeing along the way.
Crossing the Gam river and following the newly built provincial road uphill for about 29km along Chinese border to
Niem Son commune and spend almost an hour here for visiting the local market and paying visit to a small village
of the Hmong and Nung ethnic peoples. Continue the road trip uphill 25 km through the remote and deserted region
to Meo Vac Town let, fancying with a short walk around Meo Vac market before lunch break.
Afternoon tour starts with visiting to a small village of the Lolo before leaving Meo Vac for the real discovery of
the limestone highland. The narrow road winds its way on the wall-up and deserted mountain sides offering great
view of a narrow valley where the Nho Que river runs between two mountain ranges. This is Ma Pi Leng, probably
the most magnificent and famous mountain passes in Vietnam! After several photo stops, the group will pay a visit

here the true value of cultivated land and fresh water can be seen evidently!
Covering the last 16 km of the road to Dong Van. Check in hotel, having a short rest before a leisure walk to the
market place and the old street of Dong Van. It is really a good chance to see one of the uniqueness of local
minority life If on Saturday. This part will be crowded and lively for many tribal peoples coming from remote and
isolated villages.

Day 5: Dong Van - Lung Cu - Vuong Palace - Pho Bang - Quan Ba (B, L, - )
Breakfast, check out hotel at 08.00 and drive 26 km along a narrow road which sneaks through valleys amongst
walled-up limestone cliffs to Lung Cu commune located on the northernmost tip of Dong Van highland and
Vietnam as well. Walking for an hour to explore a village of the Red Lolo - A very small ethnic group with only
nearly 10 thousands individuals.
- On Friday: Leave Dong Van earlier for having about an hour more to attend the communal market of Lung Cu,
which is colorful and interesting.
- On Sunday: Spend 2 hours in the morning for attending the famous Dong Van market and leave for Lung Cu at
09.30am.
Leaving Lung Cu for a 25km road ride down hill to Xa Phin valley, paying visiting to the famous historical site:
The Vuong Family Palace. Noted that there is an interesting market here on date of the Snake and Pig.
Continue by road for half an hour to Sung La commune for visiting the beautiful Sung Muoi village. Then onto to
Pho Bang, an ancient town let, built hundreds of years ago as a regional trading center between the local peoples
and Chinese traders. Walking for about an hour to explore this charming town let which is featured with two storey
wooden houses, clay walled, Yin and Yang tiled roofs and leisure atmosphere. Lunch break here.
Afternoon trip downhill to Yen Minh town let and over the beautiful pass onto Quan Ba along road 4C will be
highlighted with breathtaking landscapes as well as visiting to a village of the Zao Ao Dai(Zao with long dress) in
Nam Dam valley.
Arriving in Tam Son town let of Quan Ba district in late afternoon. Check in hotel and relax. Evening is at leisure.

Day 6: Quan Ba - Ha Giang - Ha Noi (B, L, - )
Leaving Tam Son town let and drive uphill to the Cong Troi(Quan Ba Heaven Gate) which is famous for the great
view of the Tam Son valley with the “œ Twin Hills” . Take a short walk to visit small hamlet of the Bo Y tribal
people here before continuing downhill along the road 4C to Ha Giang and from here follow national road 2 to
Hanoi. Lunch break at Doan Hung Junction.
Arriving back to Hanoi in late afternoon, about 5.00 to 6.00pm, trip end with drop off at hotel in Hanoi.
- If on Saturday: Spend an hour to visit an interesting market in Quyet Tien commune at the food of Quan Ba Pass.
