Women and Social Media  Use privacy settings to protect personal accounts/profiles.  Mute anyone who provides only negative commentary to social media feeds.  Block anyone IMMEDIATELY who makes you uncomfortable or threatens.  Report anyone who is abusive, but do NOT reply or respond to them . Your social media presence is not online for others to abuse.

  13. 13. How Often Should I Tweet?  How often do you have something interesting to say or share?  It’s Ok to have fun  Don’t force it  Probably > 1-2x a day < 100x a day
  14. 14. Can I Mix Biz & Pleasure?  All work makes Jeff a dull boy  Only tweeting ‘work stuff’ might be safer, but it’s wouldn’t be authentic – for me  Make it easy for followers to decide if they like you or not 
  15. 15. What to Tweet?  Don’t try too hard  Just jump into a conversation – it’s how Twitter works  Use Hashtags – people search/filter #Oracle #SQLDev #OracleHelp
  16. 16. I HAVE TO TWEET FOR WORK  You probably won’t be very good at it  Empower your outgoing and SOCIAL people to represent your organization  Being on social won’t make you social – or valuable.
  17. 17. Don’t Worry about Followers  Especially if you don’t tweet very much!  Worry more about following people that make you: Laugh Better at your job Smarter Happy
