Unit 4

Assignment N° 4: Web 2.0 Applied to English Teaching

Due date: November 6h 2012

Objectives:

   -     To start a blog or wiki where to publish different parts of the assignment (It may
         also be used as PLE)
   -     To design ELT activities which involve the application of different Web 2.0 tools.

   -     To apply self-assessment and peer-assessment techniques.

TASKS: (INDIVIDUAL)

   -     Choose one of the alternative blog or wiki builders to start your own site. Publish a

         first port stating the purpose of the creation of that site (Include images)

   -     Choose between 7 and 10 of the suggested Web 2.0 tools and start an account.

         Create your own sample production which may later be used as examples for your

         students to see. (Make sure they are tools where users have to create something

         themselves)


   -     Choose 4 of the websites you have tested which you think your students could use.

         Write a description of the website, state what you can do with it and how. Also

         explain why you find it useful.


   -     Complete the table in Google docs with your name and the sites you have chosen

         (No     more      than     3      people     may      choose      the     same   site).

   -   Publish your description and your sample productions in your blog or wiki using a

       different entry (blog) or new page (wiki) for each tool.


   -   Design an activity for your students to apply each of the tools you have chosen.

       Write a first draft in a Word document.


   -   Post a new entry (blog) or create a new page (wiki) for each of the activities you

       have designed Write the complete instructions to your activities including the

       evaluation criteria in your blog or wiki. Accompany your instructions with images

       and include a link to the page where the site descriptions and sample productions

       were published.


   -   Post a link to your blog or wiki in your Network Profile and invite your peer

       reviewers to send their feedback (October 30th in class)


   -   Upload your work in Word to campus (Remember to include the link to your site)


   -   Finally, write your self-assessment in the Network.
