2. I made the title of the
magazine ‘Kings Style’, as it is
reflecting the school as well
as making it bold to stand
out as the masthead.
I made it white so it would
be bold against the red
background, and to fit the
colour palette.
The ‘WIN’ expression is
displayed on the left
hand side because of the
place it would be on the
magazine shelf. It has a
yellow background to
attract attention to it.
I blurred out the test tube
in the picture so that the
main focus of the
magazine would be the
student, but would still
relate to science. I also
made them wear a lab
coat and goggles to
represent science.
I wrote ‘PLUS’ in the same colour as
the background to fit with the colour
palette.
I also made the text larger as to
attract the reader’s attention as to
what else the magazine has to offer.
‘Science is FUN’ is written in quotes
to share a mutual opinion. ‘FUN’ is
also written in the same yellow as
the ‘WIN’ background to gain a
comparison.
Alliteration as well as
exclamation marks in the
content, to attract people
to what’s inside the
magazine. ‘What’s really
inside AREA 51?’ to try
and make people want to
read it and find out big
secrets. ‘AREA 51’ in
capitals for attention.
‘Science Special’ is
written larger than the
other texts, with the
exception of the
masthead. It is so to
bring importance to the
magazine’s topic and also
to attract the reader’s
attention by being bold
and large.
3. The colours are the same
as the background of my
front cover to fit with the
colour palette. The
contents is in bold to show
exactly which page it is, to
give a clear idea to the
reader.
The front page has various
cover stories. I made them
the main headlines of my
contents page because it is
what people would be
interested in when seeing
the magazine and buying it
in store. The cover stories
are the main topics in the
magazine, so they have
been expanded on within
the contents.
The picture I included
is another science
related picture, to
maintain the science-
theme of the
magazine.
4. Evaluation of my Magazine Cover
What would you change if you could do this again and why?
If I could do my Magazine cover
again, I would have written more
on the sides of the magazine so
that it looked more informative
and detailed. I didn’t think there
was enough text, especially on
the left hand side of the
magazine, so if I had written
more then I think it would’ve
looked more like something
someone would want to pick up
at the store, rather than buying
something that only has a few
stories inside.
Also, I would have edited the
photo a bit more in the
background, possibly blurred out
the test tube a bit more so that
the main focus of the magazine
was obviously the student’s face,
but with a definite science-
theme.
5. Evaluation of my Magazine contents
If I could do my contents page again, I
would instead place a landscape photo on
the top of the page, and have writing over
the top of it with the picture blurred out. I
think that it would have made it look more
professional, rather than just a plain photo
on the right side of the magazine.
I would have also changed the layout of the
text. When I completed my contents page, I
was disappointed because it looked quite
bland, so I would’ve changed the layout of
the font, picture and structure.
Lastly, I would have changed the
background colour so to make it look more
interesting and to grab the reader’s
attention.
