industryLead programmer:
leads the programming team responsible for creating all the computer code which runs
and controls a game. Programmers have various roles and specialisms including AI
(artificial intelligence), game engine development, user interface, tools development,
and physics. Lead Programmers are employed by development studios, either
independent or publisher-owned.
Skills needed are hands on understanding of all programming roles (internal and
outsourced), advanced programming skills, excellent people management and
communication skills, tact and diplomacy, conflict resolution and problem solving ability,
ability to multi-task, creativity and innovation, composure under pressure, knowledge of
the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures.
Average salary for a lead programmer would be £50,000.
They need to adhere lead programmers also generally serve as an interface between
the programmers and management and have supervisorial responsibilities in
delegating work and ensuring that software projects come in on time and under budget.
A lead programmer normally reports to a manager with overall project or section
responsibility, such as a director or product unit manager (PUM). They will be all under

Day to day basis 2D drawn animation2D computer animation stop frame or stop motion
animation3D computer generated (CG) animation.2D drawn animation consists of a series of
images which the animator draws on special paper. Each image represents one stage of a
movement, for example, of a character walking or smiling. Traditionally the images are traced
onto film and coloured. Scenery is then added by layering sheets of film.
Increasingly, however, the images are scanned into a computer and coloured using specialist
software. When viewed at speed and in sequence the images appear to move. In 2D computer
animation, the animator works with a specialist software package which is used to create and
animate characters, and add scenery and a soundtrack. Stop frame or stop motion animation
uses models, puppets or other 3D objects. The model is photographed, then moved a fraction by
the animator and photographed again. When the photographs (or frames) are played at normal
speed, the images appear to move.3D CG animation uses specialist software to create
animations. This technique is often used in feature films and computer games. The work can be
extremely painstaking and time consuming, but animators are expected to meet deadlines and
production schedules. Although some animators create their own characters and stories, others

Games designer:
They plan all the elements and components of a game, its setting, structure
rules, story flow, characters, the objects, props, vehicles, and devices available
to the characters, interface design and modes of play. Games are usually large
projects and the design process might be shared between a number of different
people, overseen by the Lead Designer. Skills needed to be a good games
designer, thorough understanding of game play theory, storytelling and
narrative development skills, information design and user interface design
skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, the ability to work as
part of a team and independently, systematic and strategic thinking, imagination
and creativity, knowledge of the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety
legislation and procedures. Salaries may range from around £19,000 to
£55,000 a year. Games designers work around 35 hours a week, but they may
need to work longer hours as deadlines approach. They work in offices and
spend long periods sitting at a desk using a computer or attending meetings.
Around 6,600 people in the UK work in computer games development. They
are employed by games development studios, which are either independent
companies or owned by games publishers
Managerial jobs in the gaming
industry
Product/Brand manager:
Is to help create and implement marketing campaigns to maximize the sales of the games they
are working on. Skills which are needed for a product manager ability to carefully manage a
budget, good client handling abilities, good negotiation skills, ability to work well within a multi-
disciplinary team, strong presentation and communication skills, good knowledge of games and
the games industry, knowledge of the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation
and procedures. Salaries range from £19,500 to £29,500 for a junior or assistant brand
manager, up to £50,000 or more for a senior brand manager. Also day to day basis would be is
known as product managers, brand managers are often responsible for overseeing the entire
creative process for a single product, or group of products and services. They may work: in house
(within an organisation's marketing department), or for a brand, advertising or marketing
consultancy, supporting different clients during projects. In either case, typical tasks are likely to
include: researching consumer markets, monitoring market trends and identifying potential areas
in which to invest, based upon consumer needs and spending habits looking at the pricing of
products and analysing the potential profitability generating names for new and existing products
and services, coming up with ideas for new packaging designs, including
shape, size, colours, fonts and imagery overseeing the production of TV adverts, newspaper and
magazine advertisements, direct mail packs, email campaigns, websites, exhibition stands, road
shows and liaising with art designers, copywriters, media buyers and printers checking marketing
copy supervising the sign off of marketing literature and campaigns, liaising with legal and
compliance personnel, ensuring the designs and messages meet the company brand and
regulatory guidelines monitoring product distribution and consumer reactions through focus
groups and market research coordinating the launch programme to external customers as well as
employees.

Assistant producer:
works with a game's production staff to ensure the timely delivery of the
highest quality project possible. Typically, they will focus on specific areas
of the development process. Helping to managing this is a big job. Hence

Safety legislation and procedures. Average salary of a game tester is a trainee
technicians earn £12,000-15,000 per year. Experienced technicians earn up to
£22,000, while senior technicians earn up to £25,000. It’s sometimes can be a
temporary, full time or you can be a free lancer depending on the company
that’s hiring you. They will be all under libel law.
Sales and marketing in the gaming
industry

Financial jobs in the gaming
industry
Accounting technician:
Accounting technicians work in all areas of finance and business.
They usually start working in a support role within a firm of
accountants or in the accounts or finance departments of
organisations. The typical work activities you would do are assisting
with the preparation of accounts, managing staff payroll, receiving
and settling invoices, dealing with basic bookkeeping, auditing
external and internal work, looking after all financial transactions,
budgets and payroll, monitoring staff and company expenses,
controlling budgets, accounting for resources, liaising with other
professionals in the field, writing reports. Starting salaries for trainee
accounting technicians are in the range of £15,000 - £22,000. Once
qualified and with experience, an accounting technician may earn
up to £32,000. Part-time work and career breaks are usually
possible.
Financial jobs in the gaming
industryProduction accountant:
Are there to manage finances and maintaining financial records. They work
with production offices with the preparing schedules and budgets. They do
day to day office work. They have to go through the Government regulation
of knowledge of Union, guild, tax and other Government relevant regulation.
Sometimes their job can be a freelance but mostly it’s a part time and full
time job. Their responsibilities are calculating finances, cost
production, liaising with financiers and controlling the cash flow to ensure
that payments are paid on time and in accordance with agreements and
approved budgets. They also confirm that all legal requirements and that the
company is a legal trading entity. They organize the VAT and PAYE
registration. They also regulate with the health and safety and security of
the accountancy section. Their skill have to be good at book-keeping and
accountancy. Good organizational and communication skills they need to
priotorise jobs effectively within a fast-paced environment they need to
maintain confidentiality. The ranges salary of a production accountant is
£18,781,52-£66,990.86.
