2. Cinematography
The cinematography is a montage, we suggest
that are iconographical to police and crime.
For example we see guns, drugs, explosions,
money and flags. We know these examples
are iconographical to the police and crime as
these are conventions we are most likely to
see in a popular Hollywood cop film. This
opening will appeal to the audience because
within seconds they can hint that it has a
element of cops and crime.
3. Title
The title sequence in the opening of the film is
effective. For example the bold san serif font
makes it easy to understand. We know this is
effective as the flashing red and blue lights
connote police and authority. This is a
recurring theme as the two protagonist play as
two police officers. This will appeal to the
audience as it a done graphically well.
4. Editing
Editing in the opening of this film is also known
as fast pace. For example we see multiple
objects in a montage. We know this is fast
pace editing as it we see multiple shots in
quick succession. This will appeal to the
audience as fast pace editing is a key
convention in action genre, this is because it is
more entertaining and as the audience we feel
as if we are keeping up with a fast car race.
5. Sound
The sound we here in the opening of 21 jump
street is non-digetic music, however they play
a up beat song to add to the “fast pace” effect.
For example the opening is a montage in quick
succession. We know that this will make sure
the music is in time and has some association
with montage. This will appeal to the audience
as they can engage more as they are using
more senses.
