TYPES OF OILS Very light oils (jet fuel, gasoline) – evaporate semi quickly and effect the fish that live closer to the surface Light oils (diesel, heating oil) - can leave up to 1/3 residue of the amount spilled, can also cause long term contamination Medium oils (crude oils) – can also cause long term and severe contaimination, also less likely to mix with water.
5. More types of oils Heavy Oils (Heavy crude, No. 6 fuel oil) – evaporate much less than the light and medium oils, clean up is more severe Very heavy oils – can sink ,float ,mix, or hang in the water, can become oil drops and mix with the water
