3. Continuing from font main title
These fonts were quite hard to find because of the fact the normal tabloid font is really normal so I wanted to
find a font that was similar but had a bit of a twist or difference. The weakest fonts that are on the first page is
‘Price Down’ and ‘BorisBlackBloxx’ font, these too are the weakest because the price down font had lines going
across two letters which is so different and to youthful for a tabloid newspaper, the fact that it looks like
future font wouldn’t suit the target audience as they would be around an adult age. The ‘BorisBlackBloxx’ font
is really good I just don’t like the full stops of symbol that’s next to each word, that would distract the readers
from the title and not remember it for the next time they want a tabloid newspaper. The strongest font is
actually the ‘Wanted M54’ which has bold strong letters but has the difference I need to make the title stand
out more, even though it’s not san serif (which the other newspaper have e.g. The Sun’) it will help to make
the title more strong looking and to have a bit of a young element just so that the newspaper is more relaxed
and new. ‘Piston Pressure’ and ‘Muro’ are very similar and I will test them on the actually tabloid newspaper to
see if it’s smart enough or fits, if not they could be really good for the subheadings which will be just above the
little article on the page. I chose fonts that were difference to the normal because I feel that all of the tabloids
now are very similar to each other and by having something different will help to bring out the best elements
of the newspaper.

4. For the Tabloid newspaperSub Heading
I have only found four fonts that would be suitable for the main heading on the tabloid
newspaper, there is only this amount because I found that the other fonts like ‘Blackoak std’ was
too flicked and quirky and not bold enough to get the point across. When researching tabloid
newspapers I found that the words were in a san serif font which meant that they were mostly
straight words and thick lettering, this really helped to get a message across that was simple and
in massive font. My favourite font out of these would definitely be ‘Impact’ font this is because
the space between each letter is tight be clear and the letters are very similar to ‘The Suns’ font
that they use for there newspaper. The word impact says it all, when I used the method of having
18 font size to 44 really helped because it showed how much room the word would take up. This
made the ‘Rockwell Extra’ font too large and over the top, I chose this one because I tried to see
if a flicked lettering would work on the newspaper and I found that it would be to complicated to
read when it’s on the front cover. I have used American Purpose a lot (for titles mostly) but I have
found that that font is to simple and much better for broadsheet newspaper, this is because of
the boldness and the fact that the words are still slim which looks more professional. The
couture font seems more like a fashion font as the G looks like the letter they would use for
Gucci which is very clear and large to get the name across. The impact font will do the job well
and stand out which will be perfect for the front cover.

When looking at these fonts I don’t think they are very strong at all, the two fonts that I
would consider using now is the ‘Wanted M54’ which looks good on most of the titles
especially ‘The World’ that looks professional looking and quite masculine which can help
sell the newspaper to business men in the city. I like the BorisBlackBloxx’ font on ‘The Daily
Talk’ that stands out and gives the san serif look that the other tabloids use. The ‘Piston
Pressure’ (second font) and ‘Muro Regular’ (last font) fonts are very weak because they
aren’t very big even when they are in size 20. The others fonts overtake those two because
of there size and boldness alone. I picked the price down font because it looked quite old
fashioned and without seeing the lines under the letters I found that the letters were nicely
close together and neat. Now looking at it properly I can see that this font wouldn’t work at
all, instead it would be used for Egyptian words and nothing else.

6. Font for the Written Article
These fonts were chosen through looking at Google Images to
see what kind of font they used on the front cover and I found
that the fonts were all bold looking and in a very small font
that had to fit into a little box. When seeing what fonts the
public thought was best they said (on Yahoo) that Bernard MT
Condensed was the best because of the boldness and that it
would be suitable for a little amount of writing. When looking
at the sentence and sizes I agree that the boldness works but
it’s not very clear to read and the letters are very close
together, for that to work I would have to go on Indesign and
separate each letter to make it more clearer. I did a mixture of
Serif and San Serif to see which ones would suit the Tabloid
article and my favourite is the ‘Arial Rounded’ font because of
how young it looks and the fact that it’s not old fashioned and
instead simple and relaxed which suits the style that a tabloid
is in. It gives an informal look which Is the language that they
mostly use in Tabloids. The Times new Roman font is neat by
being a Serif font but I now understand that it wouldn’t work
with a tabloid style because it look like a traditional English
font that we are trying not to use.

8. All of the tabloids that I looked at all had one thing in
common, large headings with the person either looking silly
or not looking at the camera properly. This is what I wanted
to portray Obama looking like, by him having a funny
expression will make him look quite weak against the
article. They also have a victim or another person involved
in a small section next to the writing, this is where I’m going
to put Lil Jojo in because then the audience will recognise
who the victim is in the article. The newspaper on the right
is the look that I’m trying to achieve, by having the main
person looking silly or distracted and then have the other
person involved at the bottom will help to give the story out
and I believe I’ve found the right images to pull that off. I
can Photoshop Obama and Lil Jojo so that the black
background behind the text will merge into the background
of the original image that they both have. That way I can
put the whole of that on on large section of the grid in
indesign and then put the text over it which will give the
effect of a front tabloid newspaper.
