Survey Results
Hannah Richards
How old are you?
After the analysis of my results I have found that all of the people who
took part in the survey were aged from 16-20 which shows that the
target audience for SASH and other youth homelessness charities
are similar to that of my target audience.
Do you live inside of York? If not,
where do you live?
The results from this question brought around a range of different
answers which when analysed showed that only 5 of the respondents
were from inside of York and others were from elsewhere this shows
that many of the people I asked may not be familiar with the SASH
charity.
Have you heard of the charity called
SASH?
As expected from the results of the last question the majority of the
people I asked have not heard about the SASH charity only 35%
knew of SASH and the other 64% didn't know, I also found that it was
mostly people who lived outside of York.
If so, where did you hear about it?
From these set of results I have found that most participants heard
about SASH from their college, this group of people were from the
inside York area and this shows that colleges in York are informing
their students of these facilities seen as it is targeted to the college
age group.
Do you know anyone who is
homeless and who are they to you?
For this set of results I gathered a majority of people saying no which
surprised me due to the UK youth homelessness statistics that were
shown to us by SASH and from the internet.
I also got a result where the respondant had been homeless themselves
and a few others who knew other people who had become homless.
Have you ever experienced
homelessness? What was it like?
As expected from this question most people answered 'no' to being
homeless, this shows that youth homeless isn't a major issue and it is not
as common in young people than it is in older generations.
I also got an interesting response from someone which said they are
currently homeless now which just again shows the low statistics.
If you could donate to help young
people who are homeless, would
you? and why?
All of the answers I got from this question were yes and the reasons were
very detailed, from reading the reasons why people would help shows
that they understand the charity and its aims, it also shows the
consideration for something that is not well known.
Some of the responses stated that they already donate to youth
homeless charities and I think it would be interesting to know which
charities they are to ensure my research is thorough.
How does the above image make
you feel? and why?
This was the question that I got the best responses from, they were
very detailed and gave me a lot to think about when making my
products.
Some of the best ones described the man being dragged down to his
death and that because he's been there so longer he has sunk so low
into poverty that he is no longer able to get out.
I think that these answers were very helpful because it helps me to
understand what I need to include in my products to make sure I can
get the message across to young people.
