• A left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is a
mechanical pump that is used to support the
heart function and blood flow in people with
advanced heart failure and very week heart.
3. How does it work
• The device take blood from left ventricle and
help pump in to the body and vital organ just
as a health heart would.
4. Does it replace the heart
• No – the heart is still pumping and firing like
normal , but the pump is there to assist so the
body’s’ organs and muscles can function
properly
