2. Once upon a time
there was a little boy
named Khan. In
Chinese, ‘Khan’
stood for leader.
Everyday, his mom
would tell him he
would grow up to be
a great leader.

3. Khan lived in Mongolia. Mongolia had a very elite group of warriors.

4. During the 1200’s, this group of warriors called the Mongols invaded much of Asia, the Middle East and
Eastern Europe. Everyone who fought against the Mongols were inferior of them.
The Mongolian military was based upon quality not quantity considering there was only 700,000 of them.
The weapons the Mongols used also helped them in taking over other countries.

5. One of these warriors happened to be Khan’s father, Genghis.
Genghis was a very big, strong man. He was also smart with
procedures.

6. “If you are going to be a Mongolian warrior someday, this is what you will need to
wear.” said Genghis.
- Heavy leather boots
with felt socks.
- Several layers of wool
under coat. - Covering coat made out of
sheepskin or an animal’s fur.
- A fur hat with ear flaps
over their helmet.
- A metal helmet.
He told Khan everything he needed to know about being a warrior.

“Also Khan, in order to protect
yourself, you must carry these
with you at all times.” said
Genghis.

8. “The last and most important thing to remember Khan is to protect
and be loyal to your country and never forget your family.” said
Genghis.

9. Genghis soon became very sick and
he thought Khan was old enough to
take his place.
Khan’s mother was very worried
about this but she knew he would
go fight someday. “Mother, I will
be alright. I have prepared myself
for years for this day.” said Khan.
Khan’s father on the other hand
was very proud of his son for
taking his place. “You remember
everything I told you son.” said
Genghis. “I will, father, I will.” said
Khan.

10. Khan quickly advanced in his rank and was thought to
be the most superior out of everyone. He eventually led
the Mongols to invade numerous countries.

11. The war tactics he had learned from his father prepared him for
anything.
One night while Khan was resting, he heard a loud thud and a
scream beside his head. He opened his eyes to see a javelin had
pierced his fellow warrior across the leg.
Khan scrambled to action, woke his men and
assembled the catapult. They began launching
stones at the approaching target.

12. Khan protected his men.
It was now time for the Mongols to go home to their
families for a while.

13. When Khan got home, his mother hated to
inform him that his father had passed away a
year ago while he was away.
This made Khan extremely sad.
In remembrance of his father, Khan decided to
change his name to Genghis Khan.

14. He became the greatest
known leader of the
Mongols.
He led the Mongols to
many successful
invasions.
Genghis Khan returned back to war announcing his new name. He continued to
carry out what his father had told him and remained loyal to his country.

16. Yes, we all know this is not the story of Genghis
Khan but I thought it was a cute way of telling
the story.
