ATTITUDES
Template
Answer the following questions honestly
•   Do you believe in all the things that your
    best friend tells you?
•   Are you willing to spend long hours of
    work to find the answer to a question that
    interests you?
•   Do you consult an authority for an answer
    to a question you feel you have solved
    correctly?
•   Do you accept defeat gracefully even as
    others win?
Answer the following questions honestly
• If you find a problem to difficult to solve,
  should you rather wait for your
  classmate’s solution than try to solve it
  yourself?
• Do you repeat an experiment that has
  failed?
• Do you jump to a conclusion even if there
  is only one evidence?
• Your answers to the questions above will
  reveal if you possess the SCIENTIFIC
  ATTITUDES in solving everyday
  problems.
1. CAREFUL JUDGMENT
   The scientist does not jump
   to a conclusion. He bases his
   judgment on facts and
   reliable information.
2. CREATIVITY
    The scientist is sensitive to
    problems. He can generate
    original ideas. He is able to
    find unusual, uncommon
    answers to the problem.
3. CRITICAL MINDEDNESS
    The scientist is willing to
    evaluate evidences presented in
    support of a conclusion. He
    prefers accuracy of facts and
    reliability of sources of
    information
4. CURIOSITY
    The scientist never stops
    learning. He wants to know the
    why and how of things.
5. HUMILITY
    The scientist is humble and
    does not boast about his
    achievements. He does not
    belittle others whom he thinks
    he do not meet his standards.
6. INTELLECTUAL HONESTY
     The scientist gives reports
     truthfully and acknowledges
     sources of information. He does
     not claim the works of others as
     his and gives credit where it is
     due.
7. OBJECTIVITY
    The scientist records actual
    observations and data
    accurately. They are interpreted
    based on actual observations
    and experiments. The scientist
    verifies the consistency of
    observations.
8. PATIENCE
    The scientist has the ability to
    spend more time or days of work
    to finish a task and to get
    accurate results.
9. RESOURCEFULNESS
    The scientist thinks of a possible
    alternative solutions to problems
    he is working on. He finds
    materials to be used for his
    experiment.
10. RATIONALITY
    The scientist does not believe in
    superstition. He believes that in
    this world, things happen for a
    reason. He only accepts facts
    and statements that are
    supported by proofs.
