 HCCB takes over Georgia business in India
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has announced the transition of Georgia Tea & Coffee business
from Coca-Cola India Private Limited to itself effective October 2015. The former is the largest bottling
partner of Coca-Cola India while Georgia is the tea and coffee offering of Coca-Cola India. Georgia’s
manufacturing and distribution will be handled by HCCB across the country, which will help HCCB to
expand its existing product portfolio by offering both hot and cold products to end consumers.
 Kerala and Tamil Nadu's papad industry affected by pulse’s price-rise
Kerala and Tamil Nadu’s papad-making industry has been affected because of the steep rise in the price
of black gram. The price of black gram has almost doubled to INR 210 per kg within six weeks. The papad,
known as appalam and papadam in local language, are served with biriyani, rice and curry or puttu (rice
steam cake). However, due to the rise in price of the product, many restaurants have stopped buying
papads or have started charging a price of INR 2 or 3 per piece for it. The papad industry which does sales
worth hundreds of crores annually is being severely affected by the price rise.
 Nestle resumed Maggi production
Nestle has resumed manufacturing of Maggi Noodles at its three plants - Moga (Punjab), Nanjangud
(Karnataka) and Bicholim (Goa). The fresh samples of the product will be sent to the three accredited
laboratories for testing to comply with the orders of the Bombay High Court. The company has informed
Bombay Stock Exchange that the sale of Maggi noodles will commence only after clearance from the
three laboratories.
 Manpasand Beverages partners with Havmor Ice Cream
Gujarat-based Manpasand Beverages has entered into a retail tie-up with Havmor Ice Cream, the ice
cream and food retailing major, to expand its reach in urban areas. Manpasand has launched 'Fruits Up'
brand recently, which will be available at 210 Havmor food outlets across Gujarat, Mumbai and Punjab.
The tie-up is part of the INR 400 crore strategy of Manpasand to expand its reach in the urban areas,
through Havmor's food outlets. The tie up covers 17 outlets of Havmor in Punjab, 28 outlets in Mumbai
and 164 in Gujarat.
 Amul to procure milk from Punjab villages
Amul will procure milk from 1,000 villages in Punjab, which is a move to provide INR 2,000 crore worth
annual benefits to the dairy farmers in the state. It also announced the setting up of milk processing
facilities in Bathinda and Khamano, as well as modern milk testing, bulk milk cooler system and
weightment facilities in each village. The investment in each village will be about INR 15 lakh, adding up
the total investment to INR 150 crore.

 USDA projects India's dairy product export to be flat at 30,000 tonnes in 2016
According to the latest report by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the export of Indian
dairy products (non-fat dry milk) is projected to remain flat at 30,000 tonnes in 2016. The country's milk
output may increase by 4.8 percent to 154 million tonnes assuming a normal monsoon in the year, while
domestic milk consumption is forecasted to rise by 5 percent to 62.75 million tonnes in the same
period. India is the largest milk producer in the world and exports to milk-deficient countries including
Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan.
Investment News
 Punjab received 55 investment proposals in food processing
Punjab received 55 investment proposals worth INR 8,000 crore for the setup of food processing units.
The state government announced tax exemption for the sector with an aim to develop a food processing
hub in the state. Punjab contributes over 40 percent of the central procurement of wheat, 75 percent of
total production of kinnows, 26 percent of the central procurement of rice and oranges, and 7.5 percent
of the total milk production in the country.
