Capital goods are those assets that are used to produce consumer goods and services. In FY2014, the
capital goods market contributed X.X percent to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and XX
percent to the country’s manufacturing output. The market is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX
percent through FY2015-FY2019 to reach INR XX.XX trillion by FY2019.
Power and electrical equipment and light engineering goods are the major segments of the Indian
capital goods market. In FY2013, about XX percent of the domestic demand was met through
imports.
The growth of this sector is attributable to the expansion in shipments of aircrafts, space parts and
automobiles. The growth of segments such as machine tools, power and electrical equipment, light
