1. Gwendolyn Le 1
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am an experienced, self-motivated and self-managing pharmacist with the ability to communicate
effectively. I am interested in pharmacy practice opportunities that promote positive patient outcomes and
encourage professional development.
I received my formal training at UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences,
where I obtained my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D). Soon after graduation, I began working for
Riverside County Regional Medical Center as an inpatient/IV pharmacist. A year later, I had to return to my
family in Orange County, so I took up a position at United Health Group working as a clinical pharmacist in
the Appeals/Grievances department. However, my love for direct patient care motivated me to apply for
various hospital jobs near my home. After a long wait, I accepted a position as a graveyard pharmacist at
VA Long Beach Medical Center. This is where I learned to truly be independent because I had to work by
myself handling a wide range of clinical as well as operational pharmacy duties, which encompasses both
inpatient and outpatient pharmacy tasks. My inpatient duties included supervising/providing oversight of
technical staff in all aspects of medication distribution, order verification, kinetic dosing/monitoring,
consulting with physicians/nurses, going to codes, etc. My outpatient duties included order verification,
filling/verifying/dispensing medications, providing consultation to patients discharged from the Emergency
Room, consulting with ER physicians/nurses, etc. My other technical duties included processing and
dispensing medications in accordance with dosage form requirements (outpatient, unit dose, intravenous
admixture or ward stock/automatic replenishment). In addition, I was also responsible for training new
graveyard pharmacists; this gave me a chance to hone my leadership skills, which I believe allows me to
serve as an effective pharmacist.
I am familiar with many different modes of pharmacy practices including, but not limited to: clinical
pharmacist, health educator, physician/nurse/patient consultation, medication dispensing, supervisory
functions, Omnicell, CPRS, Vista, unit dose drug delivery, IV admixture, pharmacokinetics, etc.
Having practiced in a wide array of pharmacy settings, I believe I am a great asset to the clinical
pharmacist implementation team. My clinical background allows me to effectively communicate with
physicians as well as other members of the health care team. Furthermore, I have always been known to
have great rapport with all my colleagues. My ability to work well with others and adapt quickly to change
allows me to be successful in the dynamic world of pharmacy. I will bring forth a high degree of
professionalism and efficiency. Most importantly, I am a very compassionate and caring person who has a
sincere passion for providing excellent patient care. As a pharmacist, I believe that all pharmacists are
extensions of the medical providers, helping to advocate for patients, promoting wellness, educating, and
monitoring patients so they are able to safely and effectively use their medications. This is my sole purpose
as a pharmacist.
I am hoping that this position will provide me with great clinical opportunities as well as direct
patient care because I am excited to work alongside other dedicated and compassionate healthcare
professionals. I have enclosed my curriculum vitae, which further explains my past positions. I am very
enthusiastic about pharmacy, and I hope to establish a time when we can meet to discuss how my
experiences, professionalism and enthusiasm will add value to your organization.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience. I
look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Gwendolyn Le, Pharm.D
