2. About Snapchat
• Snapchat was initially released in
September of 2011.
• Created by 2 Stanford students,
Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy.
• This application allows users to
take photos, videos, and add text
and drawings to them.
• Users can send them to a
controlled set of recipients and
can control the time limit for how
long the messages can be viewed
until they are gone and deleted
from Snapchat servers.
• As of May 2014, Snapchat users
were sending 700 million photos
and videos a day, while Snapchat
stories were being viewed 500
million times a day.
3. Using Snapchat for
Marketing
• Snapchats main demographic is
13-23 years old, but growing with
the 40-years-and over users.
• Because Snapchat sends out a
time-controlled message, users
wont get bombarded by ads
and have them on their device
forever. Snapchats small photo
and video bursts could lead to
more user friendly ads because
you can watch the ad and it will
be gone in 24 hours or right after
you watch it.
• This adheres to the main
demographics time and
attention span for
advertisements.
• Also, because of the creative
features, Snapchat ads can
actually be fun.
4. Continued.
• Taco Bell was one of the first companies to take full
advantage of social media marketing. They used their twitter
account to tell their followers they are now on Snapchat.
• Many more companies are following suit because this is a free
outlet to keep in touch with millions of your customers.
• Other media outlets are also noticing Snapchat marketing
and Forbes.com even wrote an article guiding you how to use
Snapchat for marketing in 5 simple steps.

5. Message Mobile
Marketing
• Message marketing has not become as popular as
Snapchat marketing as of today, but the
opportunity is there.
• Many marketers have yet to embrace and take
advantage of this outlet.
• Text message marketing is regulated just as the
telephone market is to protect their customers and
marketers from spamming.
• But if given permission, text message marketing
could be one of the quickest ways to get your ad
out there.
6. AthleteTrax
• AthleteTrax could benefit largely from both Snapchat
and Message marketing.
• They already use protected forms of text messaging to
send out schedules and RSVP’s and with permission
could use this outlet to continue to spread their business.
• With Snapchat especially, AthleteTrax could create a
free account and let their twitter and facebook followers
know to follow them on Snapchat.
• AthleteTrax could create a Snapchat account that
sends out fun photos and videos as they travel to
different universities for sporting events to promote their
business.
7. Continued.
• For example, The World Cup created a Snapchat
called Riolive2014 this year and took their own
videos and photos and used other users, with
hashtags, to send out tons of videos giving viewers a
backstage view of the World Cup and promoted a
lot for Rio.
8. Conclusion
• Snapchat has been around for 3 years as a strong social
media application.
• With millions of users, companies can use this app to
promote their business for free.
• The fun and creativeness that comes from Snapchat
gives companies a chance to entertain consumers with
their ads but not overwhelm them.
• Another outlet is text messages. Almost everyone that
has a cellphone has text messaging capabilities.
• This provides a huge group of different demographics
that companies could send a more personalized
message out to the willing.
