The document discusses the six thinking hats method created by Edward de Bono. Each colored hat represents a different perspective or way of thinking. The white hat calls for facts, the yellow hat explores positives, the black hat looks for difficulties, the red hat expresses emotions, the green hat focuses on creativity, and the blue hat manages the thinking process. The author found the black and green hats most comfortable and the yellow hat least comfortable initially, but grew to like it after practicing staying optimistic. They concluded that wearing multiple hats is sometimes necessary to complete a task.
2. White Hat
ï The White Hat calls for information known or
needed. "The facts, just the facts."
ï This was easy, it needed lots of observation and
thinking about what my friends, relatives and
colleges say about getting enough sleep, getting to
the root of the problem
3. Yellow Hat
ï The Yellow Hat symbolizes brightness and optimism.
Under this hat you explore the positives and probe
for value and benefit.
ï Staying optimistic in every situation, did become a
bit challenging for me, but once it tried it a few times
during the assignment, I noticed that I was even
applying it in my real life. This was the best thing in
the whole course by far for me till now.
4. Black Hat
ï The Black Hat is judgment - the devil's advocate or
why something may not work. Spot the difficulties
and dangers; where things might go wrong. Probably
the most powerful and useful of the Hats but a
problem if overused.
ï This was the easiest for me, since I think in my
opinion, I think one step ahead at all times, trying to
switch over from this hat was difficult. Also, setting
the boundaries as to how far you should let the
problem slide, needs to be learnt by me.
5. Red Hat
ï The Red Hat signifies feelings, hunches and
intuition. When using this hat you can express
emotions and feelings and share
fears, likes, dislikes, loves, and hates.
ï Making myself vulnerable is not easy, I would rather
go out of the way to help someone that try to ask for
help, call it pride if need be, so be it.
6. Green Hat
ï The Green Hat focuses on creativity; the
possibilities, alternatives, and new ideas. It's an
opportunity to express new concepts and new
perceptions.
ï I really liked doing this also, its my most favorite, but
at times I do get carried away thinking my way is the
only best way.
7. Blue Hat
ï The Blue Hat is used to manage the thinking process.
It's the control mechanism that ensures the Six
Thinking HatsÂź guidelines are observed.
ï Whenever we sidetracked someone or the other
reminded us to think with one thinking hat at a time
and I think it streamlined whole the process a
lot, and helped us not get distracted.
8. ï What hat color is most comfortable for you?
The black and the Green hat
ï What is the least comfortable for you? The
yellow hat, but liked it later and now trying to
apply it in real life.
