9. Normal skin has an even tone with a soft,
smooth texture. Although on the majority of
what is considered normal skin there are no
visible pores or blemishes and no greasy
patches or flaky areas, it is 'normal' to have
blotches and pimples and minor variations.
The surface is clear, fine-textured, supple,
and smooth to the touch. Normal skin glows
from good blood circulation and excellent
overall health. The skin is an amazing organ
and it must be treated with care.
10.
11. Follow a cleansing routine for your skin. Using a natural oatmeal-
honey scrub will be beneficial.
Take 1 tsp of boiled oats, ½ tsp honey and ½ tsp milk. Mix well.
Apply evenly on your face and neck. After 10 minutes, use a
cotton wool to dab refrigerated rose water on your face and
neck. Use gentle, upward movements of your fingers to massage
the face scrub off your face and neck. Wash your face with plain
water. Pat it dry with a soft towel. Apply a light moisturizer on
your face and neck. You may use this face scrub every day.
You may also buy a natural walnut, apricot scrub and use it on
alternate days. There are lots of natural scrubs that can be
bought from the stores.
Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water everyday.
Include lots of salads, toned milk, and fresh, leafy vegetables in
your diet.
If you can't go to the gym or the swimming pool every day, walk
for 30 minutes every day. This should be done in a relaxed
manner either in the morning or in the evening.
Make sure that you get 8 hours of undisturbed sleep every night.
12. Use a natural face pack once every 7 days.
Use a natural face pack made of Fuller's earth. Mix 1 tbsp
of Fuller's earth, 1 tsp of sandalwood powder, ½ tsp of
milk cream, 1 tsp rosewater, 1 tsp honey and mix well.
Apply this natural face pack to your face and neck. Leave
out the area around the eyes. Apply a mix of ½ tsp honey,
½ tsp cucumber juice and ½ tsp milk cream to the area
around the eyes.
Leave the face packs on your face for 10 minutes. Use a
cotton wool to dab rosewater on your face and neck.
Soften the facial masques and gently wash them off with
plain water.
Pat your face and neck dry with a soft towel.
Gently massage an aloevera based moisturizer into the
skin of your face and neck.
Use very gentle upward, rotating movements of your
fingers for the massage.
Always use a sunscreen. It may be a gel or a lotion or a
cream but make sure that you are using a SPF 15
sunscreen—you can even try SPF 30. The higher the SPF
(Sun Protection Factor), the more effective the sunscreen.

20. “Crowning Glory Of Our Body Is Hair”
Normal hair is neither greasy nor dry, has not been per med or
colored, holds its style and looks good most of the time.
Normal hair is ideally suited to the daily use of two-in-one
conditioning shampoos. These are formulated to provide a two-
stage process in one application. When the product is lathered
into wet hair the shampoo removes dirt, grease and styling
products. At this stage the conditioner remains in the lather.
As the hair is rinsed with more water, the grease and dirt are
washed away. At the same time, the micro-fine conditioning
droplets are released on to the hair, leaving it shiny and easy
to comb.
Normal hair responds well to regular brushing, smoothing, and
polishing.
21.
22. Dandruff
• Dry skin flaking off the scalp and itchiness is referred
to as dandruff. The aggravation of Vata generally causes
this dryness.
Remedies

neem oil. Store it in glass container. Dosage: Massage this
oil into the scalp before bed.
Mix 1 teaspoon of castor, mustard and coconut oil each
and massage into the scalp.
Mix one part of lemon juice with two parts of coconut oil.
Massage into the roots of the hair regularly.
Dosage: Wash with warm water after three to four hours
or leave overnight.
23. Hair loss
When the amount of hair lose grows higher than the
normal hair fall that takes place due to the change in
environment, increasing age or growth of new hairs, it is
referred to as hair loss problem that needs special care.
Improper or poor diet, exposure to a lot of chemicals or
cosmetics, hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety and
mental tension are some causes of hair loss.
Remedies
Massage the scalp gently with coconut or almond oil daily
for 10 to 15 minutes.
Boil neem leaves in water. Cool, strain and rinse hair with
it.
Increase green leafy vegetables, salads, milk, fruits and
sprouts in the diet. Take more proteins, milk, buttermilk,
yeast, wheat germ, soya beans, whole grains and nuts.
24. Premature graying of hair
Graying of hair is a natural process that happens with
increasing age, but if the hair starts graying before the age
of 35, it is termed as premature graying that occurs due to
the aggravation of Pitta dosha. Excessive intake of tea,
coffee, alcohol, meat, fried, oily, greasy, spicy, sour, and
acidic foods increases pitta and leads to graying
prematurely.
Remedies
Apply a paste made from 2-Tsp. henna powder, 1-tsp.
curd, 1-tsp. fenugreek seed powder, 1 tbsp. coffee, 2-
tbsp. mint juice and 2-tbsp. basil juice. Apply this paste to
the hair for two hours. For a darker color, leave this paste
in for 3 to 4 hours. Wash hair with any natural shampoo.
Grate some fresh ginger. Mix with honey and place it in a
jar. Eat 1 tea spoon everyday.
25. Itchy scalp
Aggravation of Pitta dosha, stress, allergic
reaction to shampoo, air conditioning, pollution
and central heating lead to an itchy and red
scalp, with tiny pimples or sores, dull and dry
hair.
Remedies
Add 1 teaspoon of camphor to half a cup of
coconut oil and store it in glass container.
Dosage: Massage this oil into the scalp
before bed.
26. Grind some jasmine roots with lime juice. Wash
the hair and scalp with it. The causes for these
hair conditions are as follows: Excess of Pitta
dosha in the body is the chief cause of hair
problems.
Excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, meats
and excessive smoking.
Eating too much fried, oily, greasy, spicy, sour
and acidic foods.
Intake of too many chemical medicines, low
blood circulation, anemia, general weakness
after disease, stress, anxiety and mental tension.
Chronic diseases like typhoid fever, presence of
dandruff or lice and hormonal imbalance.
27. Use natural shampoo or soap to clean the hair.
Use amla (embilica officinalis), Shikakai (Acacia
concinna) for washing the hair.
Enhance oiling and massaging of scalp.
Use coconut oil or mustard oil at least three times in
a week.
Use medicated oils like 'Mahabhringraj oil', 'Amala oil'
and 'Arnica oil'. Put oil on the scalp and massage
gently in the roots of the hair.
Maintain a regular bowel movement everyday.
The diet should contain more green leafy vegetables,
salads, milk, fruits and sprouts. Take more proteins,
milk, buttermilk, yeast, wheat germ, soybean and
vitamin A.
Do regular physical exercise.
28. A special Ayurvedic preparation made from Bhringraj
(Eclipta elba), Amala, corals, iron and black sesame seeds
is very useful and even stops the graying of hair.
Rub the scalp vigorously after washing the hair. It
increases the blood circulation, and activates the
sebaceous glands.
A mixture of lettuce and spinach juice is good to drink to
induce hair growth. The juice of alfalfa mixed with that of
carrot, and lettuce juice is also good to take.
Daily application of coconut oil mixed with lime- juice on
the hair is also beneficial. Applying juice of green
coriander leaves on the head is also good.
Washing the hair with a paste of cooked Urad dal (black
beans) and fenugreek (methi) 2-3 times a week.
A paste of licorice made by grinding it in milk can be
