Beyonce was born in Houston, Texas in 1981. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, a popular R&B girl group. During a hiatus from Destiny's Child, Beyonce released her debut solo album Dangerously in Love in 2003. The album was a huge commercial and critical success, producing several hit singles and earning Beyonce five Grammy Awards in 2004, demonstrating her talents as a solo artist.
