The average salary for a manufacturing job is $42,242 per year; the average salary for other jobs in the state of South Carolina is $32,420 per year. There are more than 5,000 manufacturing businesses in our state. Manufacturing's share of South Carolina's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is $24.9 billion. That's 18% of the state's entire GDP.

8. Going Green Companies all across the upstate have taken a stand to help protect the environment. BMW, in particular, has made it a priority. This particular site in Spartanburg pre-treats their waste water before releasing it to the local treatment plant. They have also added an on-site butterfly garden and several bird houses to attract and keep the native butterflies and birds there.
